The Third Centauri Guards were stationed on Bacum in 2765. Unlike the two other Centauri Guards units, they were formed after the Confederation joined the Star League, so they had fewer of the regional rivalries that plagued the other units. They still had problems with internal power struggles, however.[1]
In 2793 a battalion from the Third, the Twenty-first Centauri Lancers, were responsible for the destruction of the Fourth Marik Militia, a Free Worlds League Military regiment, on Anegasaki. In 2875 that same unit would mutiny over unpaid wages and form a mercenary company of the same name.[2][3]

- - At this point in time the Guards were a medium-weight regiment operating at full strength and were stationed on Bacum.[4] In 2821 the unit was operating at just over one-third of full strength and were stationed on Cotocallao.[4]

- Note: At this point in time the medium-weight unit was stationed on Cotocallao with an operational readiness of 105 percent.[5]

It was confirmed that the Twenty-first Centauri Lancers were a battalion within the Third Centauri Guards in 2793 and responsible for the destruction of the Fourth Marik Militia on Anegasaki by the BattleTech Developer Adrian Gideon in the Catalyst Game Labs official errata forum:
