The Third Chesterton Voltigeurs was re-formed around 2890 along with their two companion regiments from old soldiers of various Chesterton worlds then under the control of the Federated Suns. Unlike their two sister units, the Third Voltigeurs had a distinguished service record until they were defeated on Tikonov during Operation RIPOSTE.

History

First Succession War

Three regiments of Chesterton Voltigeurs were founded by the Capellan Confederation during the First Succession War as a part of the Chesterton Regulars brigade. All three regiments survived the First Succession War, although the Confederation was unable to conquer their namesake world.

Second Succession War

In 2832 and 2833, the unit defended Tikonov against the Armed Forces of the Federated Suns and handed successive defeats to the Deneb Light Cavalry despite supply problems.

Third Succession War

In 2987, the Voltigeurs lost their entire command staff defending Tikonov from Davion attack. The unit remained on Tikonov for the duration of the conflict and saw no action.

Fourth Succession War

Defense of Tikonov

During the Second Wave on the Capellan Front, the Third Chesterton defended the city of Tselinagra on Tikonov against the Fifth Crucis Lancers but failed to hold despite numerical superiority.

Attack of New Aragon

The Third Voltigeurs landed on New Aragon during Operation RIPOSTE with the objective of taking a supply depot at Grahamsville. The city was secured by a newly constructed defense wall, a river swollen by summer melt off, and the New Avalon Crucis March Militia. The Capellan force lost units to the surging river as they forded it but fought well until their commanding officer was badly wounded. The green militia forces in outdated equipment then routed the Voltigeurs at the wall and captured them after a short pursuit.
