The Third Freemen Cluster was a Clan Ghost Bear second-line BattleMech Cluster, which originally consisted of soldiers who were members of the defunct Free Rasalhague Republic.[1]

Unit History[edit]

Formation[edit]

When Clan Ghost Bear and the Free Rasalhague Republic joined, the KungsArmé created the Third Freemen Cluster during their reorganization.[2] They were stationed on Kempten as part of Taiga Galaxy.[3] In 3085, they were the garrison for Susquehanna.[4]

Dark Age[edit]

In 3100, they worked with the First Freemen to recapture Thule from the invading Thirteenth Sun Zhang Academy Cadre. The Thirteenth was completely destroyed. The Third and First then went on to take the Richmond system from the Draconis Combine since the defending militia was no match for the Freemen. The world fell in a matter of hours.[5]

IlClan Era[edit]

At the dawn of the IlClan Era, the Third and Fourth Freemen saw action after the end of the Dominion Civil War when the Dominion leaders decided to invade the Draconis Combine. First, both Clusters attacked the planet Yamarovka in June 3152, defended only by the mercenary unit Crater Cobras. After a serie of set-piece battles, the Cobras were forced off-planet. While the Fourth remained on Yamarovka as garrison, the Third continued to Asgard and Port Arthur. Both planets, defended only by militia, fell easily.[6]
