History[edit]

Star League Era[edit]

During the Star League era the Sixth Pesht Regulars shared a common structure with the other regiments of the Pesht Regulars, although the exact competition of each regiment and supporting formations would vary depending upon the role being performed. Lacking a border with a hostile major power, the Regulars usually suffered from lower holdings of combat expendables, including armor, because of the low chances of them seeing combat. However, as guardians of Luthien, the capital of the Draconis Combine, the Regulars were well-trained in performing drills, marches and parades, providing examples to encourage greater loyalty amongst the citizens of the Combine. The Regulars were evidently successful at this, as the Pesht Military District continued to generate far more recruits for the Draconis Combine Mustered Soldiery than it did the Star League Defense Force.[1]

The second and markedly less savory role performed by the Regulars was that of suppressing civilian rebellions; acting in support of other formations, particularly the Sword of Light brigade, the Regulars took on responsibility for garrisoning and policing pacified areas, freeing other, higher-readiness formations for other actions. The Regulars would also be redeployed to other Military Districts on a temporary basis to cover garrison postings where other combat units had been deployed forward. In the closing years of the Star League, the Sixth Pesht Regulars and her sister regiments were frequently understrength, as a result of higher-quality personnel being moved on to other district brigades and even Sword of Light regiments, with replacement personnel being supplied slowly by the Bureau of Substitution.[1]

Third Succession War[edit]

In 3025 the unit was stationed on Nowhere.[2]

War of 3039[edit]

The Sixth Regulars were stationed on Nowhere during the entire war and saw no active combat.[3]

Clan Invasion[edit]

The unit was considered unremarkable, and because of this fact, the unit was transferred to Qandahar in its eponymous Prefecture. It was replaced on its prior assignment on the border of the Smoke Jaguar Occupation Zone by a Ghost Regiment. The unit was used as to cover the underprotected Periphery border. During this time, the unit suffered a drop in morale because of the move and conflicts between the Regiment commander and Third Battalion's commanding officer.[4]

When its sister unit, the 7th Pesht Regulars were called to fight in Operation Bulldog in 3059, the unit got a morale boost as it was being divided up and deployed elsewhere to cover the 7th's commitments[5] As of 3067, the unit was reassembled on Land's End for garrison duty here as well as Qandahar.[6]

Jihad[edit]

The Sixth Pesht spent several years on Qandahar until they could be transferred to Kaznejoy to deter the AFFS. A conflict on Lyons with the 7th Donegal Guards[7] cost them a position in Operation SCOUR. Reassigned to Pesht, the Sixth guards against Clan aggression.[8]

Republic Era[edit]

In 3085 the Sixth received a lot of new recruits and more experienced warriors from other commands. The Warlord hopes that by bringing these new troops into the Sixth, it will dispel the low morale left behind when the officers who allowed the Lyons Incident to occur were relieved of duty. The Warlord is looking for the Sixth to assume the leadership role in the Pesht Regulars, and in so doing, rebuilding the Pesht District's pride in itself. The improvement shown by the 3rd Pesht Regulars and the honor the 7th Pesht Regulars received in Operation SCOUR has motivated the Sixth to improve.[9]

Dark Age[edit]

The Sixth in this era have been kept on Pesht to secure it from aggression from the Rasalhague Dominion, rather than join their fellow commands in the invasion of the Federated Suns. This has drained them of personal as many have volunteered for the transfers to other units to seek glory.[10]

Tactics[edit]

Star League Era[edit]

As a regiment within the Pesht Regulars, the Sixth was primarily trained in garrisoning pacified areas, conducting operations to dig insurgents and rebels out of urban areas, and frontal assaults against prepared defenses.[1]

Succession Wars Era[edit]

In 3025 the unit had no specialty.[14]

Clan Invasion[edit]

The Sixth operates well with the support of conventional fighters and VTOL craft. Such machines are often linked into a C3 network with the BattleMechs of the Sixth.[4]
