History[edit]

Star League Era[edit]

During the Star League era the Tenth Pesht Regulars shared a common structure with the other regiments of the Pesht Regulars, although the exact competition of each regiment and supporting formations would vary depending upon the role being performed. Lacking a border with a hostile major power, the Regulars usually suffered from lower holdings of combat expendables, including armor, because of the low chances of them seeing combat. However, as guardians of Luthien, the capital of the Draconis Combine, the Regulars were well-trained in performing drills, marches and parades, providing examples to encourage greater loyalty amongst the citizens of the Combine. The Regulars were evidently successful at this, as the Pesht Military District continued to generate far more recruits for the Draconis Combine Mustered Soldiery than it did the Star League Defense Force.[1]

The second and markedly less savory role performed by the Regulars was that of suppressing civilian rebellions; acting in support of other formations, particularly the Sword of Light brigade, the Regulars took on responsibility for garrisoning and policing pacified areas, freeing other, higher-readiness formations for other actions. The Regulars would also be redeployed to other Military Districts on a temporary basis to cover garrison postings where other combat units had been deployed forward. In the closing years of the Star League, the Tenth Pesht Regulars and her sister regiments were frequently understrength, as a result of higher-quality personnel being moved on to other district brigades and even Sword of Light regiments, with replacement personnel being supplied slowly by the Bureau of Substitution.[1]

Third Succession War[edit]

In 3025 the unit was stationed on Gravenhage.[2]

Fourth Succession War[edit]

Ronin War[edit]

War of 3039[edit]

Clan Invasion[edit]

Like most of the Pesht Regulars, the Tenth had little combat experience before the Clan Invasion, being posted on Gravenhage. The Tenth remained on that world after Tukayyid, but that station became a rallying point for strikes behind the Smoke Jaguar lines.[3]

Operation BULLDOG[edit]

After the success of Operation BULLDOG, the Tenth's focus changed to defending against Periphery threats. This was highlighted after the retirement of the unit's commanding officer in 3062. After she retired, the DCMS High Command separated the Tenth into battalion-sized units and stationed them on three different worlds.[4] One battalion was stationed on Bjarred,[5] a second battalion was stationed on Gravenhage,[5] and the third was stationed on Nowhere.[5]

Dominion War[edit]

Federated Suns Incursion[edit]

Jihad[edit]

In 3077 the Tenth Pesht Regulars attacked Qandahar to return control of the many chemical plants and production facilities in that prefecture to the Dragon. The Black Dragon Society had been able to put many of their supporters in place, and during the chaos of the Jihad these individuals were able to redirect the factory's output to other rebels. The Tenth Pesht dropped on the world, holding the main spaceport long enough for the Second An Ting Legion to drop on the world. The two units then destroyed the Black Dragon supporters on the world and imposed martial law until a new civilian government could be installed.[6]

Following the campaign on Qandahar the Tenth Pesht fought alongside the Second An Ting Legion again in 3078; the Azami Brotherhood had dispatched the First Arkab Legion to Korramabad after learning of the massacre of almost half a million Azami by the Black Dragons. The First Arkab Legion arrived shortly after the Second An Ting had pacified the world, and all three units planned and mounted a combined operation against the Black Dragon government on Slaithwaite; the campaign began on the 30th of March 3078 and ended on the 15th of April; more than 300 Black Dragon Society leaders and sympathizers were caught and executed during the operation.[7]

Republic Era[edit]

In 3085 the Tenth was stationed on Schuyler to counter any activity by Clan Ghost Bear. The Tenth has launched several raids and Trials against the Ghost Bears in response to Bear activity.[8]

Dark Age[edit]

This era saw the Tenth distinguishing itself from the other Regulars Regiments in the Draconis Combine Civil War. In which it had the Tenth personally requested to serve among the other defenders of Luthien by the Coordinator. This however did not give them a favorable supply stream, as they are relegated to "last in line" status for personnel and matériel. This had not affected their morale though, since it was under such poor supply status that attracted the Coordinator's favor.[9]
