History[edit]

Operation Revival[edit]

Insignia of Alpha Galaxy

As part of Alpha Galaxy the Seventh Dragoons successfully bid for and fought on the following worlds during the invasion of the Inner Sphere:

Wave Two[edit]

Garstedt
In May 3050 Nevversan bid his own Command Trinary, along with Trinary Assault and Binary Elemental in the attack on Garstedt. The defending troops of the Third Alshain Regulars had taken up defensive positions in the Cordivas Grotto. The Dragoons chose to wait instead of attempting a near suicidal assault on the Grotto. Tai-Sa Albert Brookhaven, the commander of the Regulars, realized he had a choice between starving and fighting. The Regulars made a dash for their DropShips situated to the south on the Filmore Steppes. In the running battle that ensued the Dragoons used a series of fast, mobile strikes to pin the Regulars before Trinary Assault arrived. The Seventh drove the Third Regulars off-world with heavy losses, destroying an entire battalion of 'Mechs before the Regulars could escape to Schuyler.[1][2]

Wave Three[edit]

Schuyler
The Dragoons followed the Third Alshain Regulars to Schuyler and bid the same forces in the attack in June 3050. Unknown to the Dragoons the Regulars had been resupplied and were not going to be caught out twice. The Regulars moved from point to point fighting a series of battles across the planet forcing the Dragoons to chase them expending energy and supplies. After a week of fighting, including a notable engagement fought at Olasin Fjord, Sidney Nevversan was forced to break his bid and call in an additional Trinary. After a battle in the Mitsuhama Ridge, the 3rd Alshain Regulars were once again driven off-world with moderate losses.[3] However, later reports confuse this battle with that at Port Arthur.[2]

Wave Five[edit]

Luthien
Alpha Galaxy landed on Luthien in January 3052, however, the Dragoons' part in the battle is not well documented despite Inner Sphere sources claiming that they took heavy casualties there.[2]

Port Arthur
saKhan Sarah Weaver and the Shroud Keshik accompanied the Seventh Dragoons as they dropped on to Port Arthur landing in the Zuave Vale in March 3052. The Smoke Jaguars immediately attacked the First Proserpina Hussars forcing them to fall back to defensive positions at Disher. Here the Jaguar attack stalled and Sarah Weaver ordered a headhunter attack that wiped out half the Hussars command units, but failed to eliminate their commanding officer Tai-sa Jong Moon Lee. It did however force a second retreat to Point aux Trembles, an area with automated turrets in hardened bunkers which stalled the Dragoons for over a week before they pushed the defenders off planet.[4]

Tukayyid[edit]

The Seventh Dragoons landed in the Dinju Heights along with the majority of Alpha Galaxy, while the Sixth Dragoons made the initial combat drop on the Com Guard Division closest to the landing zone.[5] With this threat eliminated Alpha Galaxy advanced on the City of Dinju Heights, the Jaguar Grenadiers had won the right to lead the assault. As the fighting erupted in the Dinju Pass the Seventh Dragoons received orders to hold their position.[6] Unlike the Sixth Dragoons that continued to press the attack, the Seventh appear to have accepted the retreat order. Although some warriors did break formation and join the Sixth,[7] this and their fighting withdrawal still cost them heavy casualties before they boarded their DropShips.[2]

Post-Tukayyid[edit]

Insignia of Epsilon Galaxy

After Operation Revival the Seventh Jaguar Dragoons were transferred to Epsilon Galaxy and based on Tarazed in 3054 within the Smoke Jaguar Occupation Zone.[8]

Operation Bulldog[edit]

Operation Bird Dog[edit]

As part of a clandestine campaign, the Donegal Vanguards -- a company sized unit from the Third Donegal Guards -- dropped onto Tarazed in May 3059. The Seventh Dragoons hunted the Donegal Vanguards down, but were still dealing with the last few elusive units when the main assault from Operation Bulldog hit the world.[9]

Wave One[edit]

The 7th Dragoons offered safcon to the Second Star League forces that arrived in-system, not realizing how much force they faced. As the First St. Ives Lancers, the Second Genyosha and the Third Donegal Guards RCT landed in the Krychek Mountains, the 7th's commander Sidney Nevversan realized the situation his command was in, and moved it away towards the Mosaikan Canyon Preserve in the hope of utilizing the network of canyons as defensive terrain. Light elements of the Second Genyosha saw the movement and reacted quicker than Nevversan thought possible, hitting the Dragoons' supply convoys hard while they were on the move. The Third Donegal Guards RCT compounded the Jaguars' problems, arriving at the canyons before the Dragoons and cut them off from the Preserve. As the First St. Ives Lancers advanced they caught an isolated Star of OmniMechs. Kai Allard-Liao, the Lancers' commander, challenged the Smoke Jaguar Star Captain to a Trial of Possession for her command, which he won. The Lancers then continued their assault and the remaining portion of the 7th was completely destroyed.[10][11] However, the Jaguars' JumpShip and two of their DropShips managed to flee the system.[2]
