Formation[edit]
The Ninth Confederation Reserve Cavalry was one of three Reserve Cavalry regiments to be mustered by the Capellan Confederation Armed Forces between the Amaris Coup and the beginning of the First Succession War.[1][2]
The Dark Age[edit]
The Ninth Confederation Reserve Cavalry was reactivated in secret sometime before 3144 as one of the Hidden Lion regiments formed by Chancellor Daoshen Liao using stockpiled equipment.[3] The Ninth unit used the Augmented Regiment formations commonly found in the CCAF by 3145.[4] They are a second-line regiment of the Sian Commonality.[5]
The Ninth CRC were recruited from regional training centers and Canopian military academies, and as of 3145 were stationed on Zanzibar. Despite having seen little action in the last decade, they were considered significantly more reliable than their sister unit the Eighth Confederation Reserve Cavalry.[3]

Tactics[edit]
Due to the regiment's high ratio of officers from the Magistracy of Canopus has led the Ninth CRC to adopt a tactical doctrine more akin to what is seen in the MAF. This entails them favoring stand-off attacks that at the same time avoid exposing the unit's 'Mechs to fire.[3]

- - At this point in time the Ninth was a light-weight regiment operating at full strength and was stationed on Necromo.[2] In 2821 the unit was operating at just above one-third of full strength, and was stationed on Gallitzin.[2]

The Ninth CRC trimmed their equipment a pale green, with also the emblem of a lioness in profile.[3]
