The Bergman's Planet system was the location of at least one habitable world and as of 3085 was located in the Matsuida Prefecture of the New Samarkand Military District of the Draconis Combine.[1]

System Description[edit]

The Bergman's Planet system is located close to the Harrow's Sun and New Aberdeen systems.[2]

System History[edit]

The Bergman's Planet system was colonized at some point after the end of the Reunification War.[3] Bergman's Planet vanished from maps during the Dark Age,[1][4] indicating that the system had been abandoned or depopulated.

Bergman's Planet[edit]

Bergman's Planet

Bergman's Planet is frequently described as having little intrinsic value, covered with deserts and the occasional oasis. It was also referenced to only have a single spaceport. But, the planet held a vitally important strategic location where it was considered the "Gateway to the Federation" for its placement between the Draconis Combine and the Federated Suns for any invasion force.[45]

Planetary History[edit]

Third Succession War[edit]

During the Sixth Campaign to seize Bergman's Planet, there was a notable battle between Black Widow Company and Rajhan's Company, Fourth Davion Guards.[45][46]

Fourth Succession War[edit]

Following a lull in early 3029, a number of new offensives began as the Fourth Succession War entered its second year. In early July 3029 Coordinator Takashi Kurita moved to Irurzun from Luthien and took more of an interest in combat actions on the border between the Draconis Combine and Federated Suns than he had earlier in the war, where his attention had been almost completely focused on Wolf's Dragoons. Ten days after arriving on Irurzun Takashi had drafted and launched a new offensive aimed at securing more worlds from the Federated Suns, and Bergman's Planet was one of those worlds. Left isolated by the fall of Harrow's Sun, Bergman's Planet was swiftly captured by the DCMS.[22]

War of 3039[edit]

The Federated Commonwealth began its operation to retake the planet before the War of 3039 technically started. The High Command sent special operation teams to the world in mid-3038 to train the local anti-Combine movement. The operatives found a solid resistance organization with several thousand military-trained members. The mercenary command Lindon's Battalion was sent as reinforcements to the movement on 10 March, but found the local Combine government was overthrown and the militia devastated by the special forces-backed rebellion. Any further resistance by the militia was crushed by the mercenary command by 16 March. However, even though this was the first world to fall during the War of '39, DCMS High Command never learned of it until towards the end of the conflict.[47]

Abandonment and/or Depopulated[edit]

Sometime after 3085, Bergman's Planet was abandoned or depopulated and disappeared from the star charts.[4]
