Billy Huckaby was one of those who served in the Seventeenth Recon Regiment, also known as Camacho's Caballeros, and was one of those on active duty with the Caballeros in 3056 when they were employed by Chandrasekhar Kurita to provide security for one of his companies, Hachiman Taro Enterprises. Billy was a young Black man from one of the Southwest Trinity worlds in the Free Worlds League, and a hillbilly. A member of the Scout Platoon under the command of Captain Badlands Powell, Billy was considered to be the baby of the platoon.[1]
On the 2nd of November 3056, the Seventeenth Recon were battling the Ninth Ghost regiment in Masamori, the capital city of the planet Hachiman as a result of orders from the Internal Security Force, who believed that the Seventeenth's client, Chandrasekhar Kurita, was betraying the Draconis Combine to the Clans. Billy was one of the fifteen volunteers who formed the squad led by Lieutenant Cassie Suthorn to penetrate the building occupied by Ninyu Kerai Indrahar, the adoptive son of ISF chief Subhash Indrahar and senior ISF operative on Hachiman, and present him with (fabricated) evidence exonerating Chandrasekhar Kurita. Billy was one of those who never made it to the building Ninyu Indrahar was located in; while crossing one of the streets in Masamori, he and another member of the volunteers were hit by 'Mech grade weapons and killed.[1]
