Overview[edit]
Briden BattleMechs Unlimited was responsible for refitting at least one Exterminator BattleMech into a new specialized variant, the Exterminator Caine, named for the first pilot: Lieutenant Caine Barclay. The design was an extended refit intended to be used in duels, such as those fought by members of the Gunslinger Program, despite Barclay not actually being a graduate of the program. The variant was initially successful, managing to distract those ronin from the Draconis Combine Mustered Soldiery who challenged Barclay and deliberately using the preconceptions and attitude of those same Draconis Combine MechWarriors to manipulate them into attacking rashly. Barclay was victorious in at least ten duels before being killed when he met an opponent who was prepared for his unusual 'Mech. It is unknown if any additional units of the Exterminator Caine were refitted beyond Barclay's 'Mech.[1]
