Nothing is known about the Butler's Brigands prior to their contract with the Word of Blake. On 3069 they were assigned as one of the several mercenary occupation forces on Outreach, assigned to Romulus continent.
The Brigands were engaging some Wolf's Dragoons resistance fighters based near the remains of Am Numsan when they were finally able to engage them in the open.
That battle was a disaster for them. They were able to down one of the five enemy 'Mechs for the cost of two of their 'Mechs and a half-dozen of their tanks, and they were lucky to escape with their lives.
For the remainder of their contract the Brigands did not venture outside Am Numsan, and indeed they did not survive past 3070 when they were annihilated alongside two other small commands by the Wolf's Dragoons guerrilla fighters known as Tara Lucas' Ghosts.[1]
