History[edit]

Born on one of the three Southwest Trinity worlds, Chuy Montoya was a MechWarrior who served in the Seventeenth Recon Regiment, also known as Camacho's Caballeros. Chuy was one of those serving in the Caballeros in 3056 when they were employed by Chandrasekhar Kurita to provide security for one of his companies, Hachiman Taro Enterprises. Chuy piloted a Wasp, and was a part of the Caballero's Cochise Company under the command of[1] Captain Bobby "Bobby the Wolf" Begay.[2]

In mid-October 3056, Ninyu Kerai Indrahar of the Internal Security Force arranged for DEST commandos to attempt to infiltrate the Caballero's stronghold within the HTE complex in Masamori, the capital city of Hachiman, using a Word of Blake attack as cover. Numerous civilians and HTE employees were killed or injured, and in the aftermath of the attack, Chuy was one of the many personnel from the Caballeros who pitched in to help the injured.[1]

Despite sharing a surname with Father Montoya, one of the noncombatant priests within the Caballeros, Chuy wasn't related to the Father.[1]

Notes[edit]

  • Although Chuy's rank isn't specified in the novel Close Quarters, all of the MechWarriors mentioned in the novel who are assigned a rank are at least a Lieutenant Junior Grade or higher, making it likely, but not certain, that Chuy was either a Lieutenant Junior Grade or Lieutenant Senior Grade.
