Claudia Steiner became Grand Duchess of Furillo in the Lyran Alliance during the Word of Blake Jihad.[2] She was noted as still being young when assuming the title, and Republic intelligence briefings believed it would inhibit her political power in the short term.[3] In the late 3070s, she was kidnapped by pirates and held until her brother Rüdiger Steiner and his Lyran Irregulars could mount a rescue operation.[1] The incident formed the basis of a plotline in The Steinhearts decades later. To add extra melodrama, Claudia's show counterpart "Alexandria" revealed she was pregnant, causing her brother "Rundiger" to wonder if she had actually been "kidnapped" at all.[4]
Claudia was a guest at the thousandth anniversary of the Second Donegal Guards in 3128. She brought her grandson Ludwig with her when she spoke at the opening ceremony for the unit's parade, where she related stories about her grandfather's time commanding the unit and lauded their remarkable length of service.[5]
