The Clipperton system was home to at least one habitable world, Clipperton III, and as of 3145 was located in the Regulan Fiefs.[2][3]

System Description[edit]

Clipperton is located near the Gibson and Molokai systems[4] and consists of a class M1V primary orbited by at least three planets. During the thirty-first century a recharge station was in place at both system jump points.[1]

System History[edit]

The Clipperton system was settled during the First Exodus from Terra and by the end of the Age of War had been incorporated into the Free Worlds League.[5]

Clipperton III, more commonly referred to simply as Clipperton, is the third planet in the system and has two moons named Revillagigedo and Socorro. Clipperton is home to an orbital Irian Technologies industrial facility.[1]

Planetary History[edit]

The Jihad[edit]

Prior to the Jihad, Clipperton was a member of the three-world Principality of Gibson. When forces from the Principality of Regulus attacked Clipperton and the nearby Gibson Principality world of Molokai on 1 May 3078, the local forces on Clipperton tentatively welcomed the Regulans as liberators.[23] The Word of Blake responded by broadcasting footage of the Regulan Hussars using tactical nuclear devices on Futuna, Newcastle and Norfolk in 3077, an act that tarred both Hussars regiments with the very same brush the Blakists had been tarred with, resulting in the Hussars not being greeted as liberators by the civilian population, but instead provoking protests and riots. When protestors set up a burning barricade outside the barracks the Hussars were using, the two regiments found themselves having to actively deploy infantry in riot gear.[29]

Dark Age[edit]

On 15 December 3136, a terrorist attack destroyed the famous Chateau de Leon, killing almost ten thousand people.[30] Engineered by the Oriente Protectorate's Director of SAFE and authorized by Captain-General Jessica Marik, the attack successfully persuaded Regulan leader Lester Cameron-Jones of renewed Blakist activity, diverting him from Jessica Marik's actions elsewhere.[31][32]

Military Deployment[edit]

3079[edit]

- Deployed across Molokai and Clipperton, the unit was at 90% of full strength.
