Drake Burns was the Planetary Consul of Northwind, representing the interests of the Federated Commonwealth on the planet in 3057.[1]

Drake was serving at Northwind from some time at 3057. His relationships with the Highlanders were cold as best. His right hand was the Colonel Catelli, commander of the Northwind Consul Guard, apparently a loyal officer... but in fact, he was always manipulating his superior to meet his own ends. The arrival, the 11 September, of the Capellan Death Commando and Highlanders' descendant [Loren Jaffray]] became another source of very conflict, as Burns saw Loren as little more than a terrorist, attempted to seize his present to MacLeod, a Huron Warrior BattleMech, but wasn't able to make reality his intentions. Catelli later put him on guard against Loren.[2]
The 19 September, after an assassination attempt was made against MacLeod, Catelli suggested Burns to call the nearby Third Royal Guards RCT, to subdue the Highlanders, and Burns agreed, ignoring than Catelli was manipulating him. After the Battle of Northwind (3057) began, Catelli took the Guards' command, but left his aide Stephen Lepeta, Drew's right hand, beside Burns to assist him.[3]
Death[edit]
The 4 October, Burns received in his office Lepeta, which informed him about a threat to his life. Burns was scared, but even more surprised when his aide killed him himself, acting under orders from Catelli. His death's blame was put over the Highlanders, giving the Third RCT an excuse to occupy Tara.[4]
