ProfessionPoint Commander

Point commander Ean was a trueborn aerospace pilot of Clan Jade Falcon who would join the Clan Smoke Jaguar ProtoMech program.

History[edit]

In 3050 Ean was shot down on the planet Apollo in the Jade Falcon Occupation Zone. He survived, but was wounded and hospitalized. When he recovered, Ean became acquainted with a freeborn native named Dr. Vikram Khatri, who had Hindu origins. Dr. Khatri regaled him with the tale of the Eagle King, Garuda, and his fight against the Naga, a race of poisonous cobras.[1] Ean wasn't interested at first, but later found himself enjoying the doctor's stories, and as a Jade Falcon identified himself with Garuda. Ean never learned the end of the legend, as Dr. Khatri was relocated to another hospital. Ean's age landed him in a solahma unit. His military career appeared to have ended, until a new opportunity arrived: Clan Smoke Jaguar declared a Trial of Possession by taking him, and other solahma aerospace pilots, as bondsmen. After defeating them, the Smoke Jaguars carried the pilots to their home planet of Huntress. There, the Jaguars offered both Ean and their bondsman the chance to become warriors again, which they accepted. When Task Force Serpent arrived and attacked the Jaguars, the opposition was already familiarized with Ean's ProtoMech: ironically, a Roc, a walking mythical bird. Ean was given command of a point of ProtoMechs, part of the unit Ocelot Star.[2]

On 12 May 3060, Ean, piloting a Roc, partook in the defense of the Pahn City Factory Complex on Huntress against forces from Task Force Serpent. During the battle, he fought the Legacy Grasshopper which he associated with the mythical Naga from Hindu legend. Ean was gravely injured in the fight by the explosion of a PPC mounted on a nearby Smoke Jaguar Warhammer IIC 'Mech.[3]

Death[edit]

15 March 3060, Ean awoke in the jungle encampment of the last surviving Smoke Jaguar forces. He was informed that his point of ProtoMechs were annihilated in the battle, and he had been recovered unconscious from the battlefield. His injuries and nerve damage were crippling, but Ean was still able to pilot a ProtoMech again for a short time. Enemy forces were massing for a new attack against Pahn and the Smoke Jaguars were desperate for warriors to mount a defense. Ean was the only ProtoMech pilot left in the Clan. He willingly accepted the surgery for the chance to pilot his ProtoMech one more time, even if it would likely result in (more) brain damage and further degrade his personality. The same day, when the Jaguars assaulted the factory for ammunition, Ean fought his last battle. The transformation into a ProtoMech pilot affected his sanity, and he believed himself to be Garuda battling his mortal enemy, the Naga. "Reborn" as Garuda, he went to face the Naga (The Legacy Grasshopper) again. The fighting broke through the factory complex, until Ean was trapped in open ground by the 'Mech. He was implicitly killed by a discharge from the Legacy Grasshopper's large laser.[4]

Vehicles[edit]

It is unknown what class of fighters Ean piloted as a Jade Falcon, but as a Smoke Jaguar his machine was a Roc ProtoMech.

Notes[edit]

Ean appears to have been the last ProtoMech pilot to die in the battle of Huntress, and maybe even of his entire Clan.
