Description[edit]

Created at the dawn of the Terran Alliance, the Eckener-class tanker airships were civilian air vehicles which were originally used as the last tier of means to convey fresh water for colonies dependent on imported water from outside their world. The Eckener were created by the Johnson Platform Airfame company. The JPA was created and owned by the Ryan Cartel, the famous interstellar water conglomerate, which feed these dry worlds. The Eckener were used on frontier worlds lacking the infrastructure (such as rail or land trains) to move water from DropShips delivering water fresh water to settlements.[1][2]

The airships would continue to serve the Inner Sphere in centuries to come, being used transport other valuable liquids, such as fuel, coolant and other liquefied cargo. Due to their slow nature and valuable cargo, they would be tempting targets for bandits and other criminals.[1][2]

Capabilities and Equipment[edit]

The Eckener-class airships are fitted as liquid tanker vessels. The liquid cargo tank of the ship features a 380.38 ton liquid tank bay, with a fluid suction equipment transfer its cargo onboard from various water sources. It also features a refueling drogue mounted in the aft which is used transfer the liquid cargo it is transporting. For supplies for the crew and other purposes, the ship has small 8.5 ton cargo bay mounted in the aft section.[1][2]

This ship's main source power, solar cells, allows it to move a stately, while enjoying allowing unlimited solar power. Protecting its fragile hulls from casual damage, the vehicle is fitted with 1.5 tons of commercial grade armor.[1][2]

Notes[edit]
