The Frihet Training Facility was the Free Rasalhague Republic's post–Clan Invasion infantry and Armor academy.

History

Responding to the loss of the Radstadt Academy during the Clan Invasion, the Republic allocated funds in 3054 to open two new KungsArmé military academies, the MechWarrior and aerospace focused Tyra Miraborg Memorial Academy and the Frihet Training Facility. Opened in 3055 and much larger than the TMMA, FTF has had full classes every year since then, playing a massive role in Överbefälhavare Christian Månsdottir's military growth efforts.

Following the annexation and merger of the Free Rasalhague Republic and Clan Ghost Bear into the Rasalhague Dominion during the Word of Blake Jihad, the Frihet Training Facility was the site of some of the greatest opposition to the integration. On 7 March 3071 Frihet Training Facility cadets rose up and took over the FTF grounds to protest the merger, forcing the Rasalhagian First Grumium Armored Militia to fire upon their fellow countrymen to retake the academy.

By the Republic era, civilian authorities continued to operate its training schools so that its people would have adequate training before trying out for the Rasalhague Dominion military. Because of Clan Ghost Bear's emphasis on MechWarrior training, the Frihet Training Facility expanded its curriculum to encompass MechWarriors as well as infantry and armor.

Since its decision to start training MechWarriors, former Ghost Bear warriors have come on as faculty members to help them get their program off the ground, increasing both the quality and difficulty of the curriculum.

Atmosphere

Though the Frihet Training Facility's official motto is "Freedom for All," its unofficial slogan is "Quality over Quantity". The pressure put on Frihet Training Facility cadets to excel at their chosen field creates a high stress level. Rigid discipline is enforced at all times, though this causes many cadets to drop out during the training, those who make it are as well-prepared as possible to face the Clans.

Cadets near graduation are divided into two armies and hold a mock war, the victors attends a graduation ceremony presided over by the Överbefälhavare himself; the losers get a slightly smaller ceremony, though the results do not affect their potential for future promotion or their new assignments. The best of either side go on to a private officer school and graduate from there as Löjtnants.

The mood at the Frihet Training Facility following the cadet uprising in 3071 was best described as exceedingly poor, with heavy resistance to Clan Ghost Bear efforts to introduce changes to the academy.

Training

Any Republic citizen who can meet Frihet Training Facility's entrance requirements is accepted, when all spaces are full, remaining students are placed on a priority list for the next course cycle. The initial three months of training concentrate on discipline and physical fitness, with each cadet expected to reach certain levels of skill in marksmanship, unarmed combat, and navigation by the end of the training.

Prior to the merger with Clan Ghost Bear, the FTF offered only three MOS curricula: infantry, cavalry, and reconnaissance. As of 3062 instructors pushed for the addition of an armored infantry MOS, but there were so few battle armor suits available that their requests were denied.
