Planetary History[edit]

Fourth Succession War[edit]

Hohenems was conquered by the Lyran Commonwealth Lyran following a planetary assault during Operation GÖTTERDÄMMERUNG, the major Lyran Commonwealth offensive of the Fourth Succession War. As a part of the exploitation phase of Operation GÖTTERDÄMMERUNG the Lyran Commonwealth Armed Forces deployed the Twenty-fourth and Twenty-fifth Arcturan Guards RCTs to invade Hohenems.[20] Although the exploitation phase was initiated following orders from Archon Katrina Steiner on the 21st of October 3028,[49] the Combine was still effectively in control of Hohenems in January 3029,[21] although the two Guards RCTs had been deployed to assault Unzmarkt;[20] however, during 3029 the Commonwealth took control of the planet. The Commonwealth retained control of Hohenems until at least January 3030, by which point the Lyran Commonwealth had ended the offensive actions launched as a part of Operation HOLDUR and was consolidating its gains.[22] Coordinator Takashi Kurita ordered the DCMS to halt all but the most promising attacks and assume a defensive posture; by the time the war was officially ended via a peace treaty mediated by ComStar[50] Hohenems had been returned to Combine control,[23] most likely either via a counterattack or as a part of the peace negotiations.

Clan Invasion[edit]

In August 3050 Hohenems was invaded by Clan Wolf as part of Operation Revival's Fourth Wave of attacks. The 11th Wolf Guards' Supernova Command, Binary Battle and Trinary Fighter faced off against the 1st and 2nd Hohenems Militia Brigades at Allic Crossing, Botta and the Spider Vale. Rather than conduct pitched battles with the militia forces Clan Wolf allowed their Elementals to infiltrate the enemy's rear and cause destruction and confusion, weakening them for follow-on Wolf forces to mop up. The success of this strategy would go on to be adopted by Clan Wolf as a whole later in the invasion with the creation of specific Headhunter units.[51]

Jihad[edit]

Hohenems was the subject of a second attempted invasion in October 3071 when forces from Clan Hell's Horses invaded the Clan Wolf occupation zone in the Inner Sphere, attempting to annex planets to form their own holding in Spheroid space. Although the Hell's Horses troops assaulted the Wolf forces on Hohenems they only managed to establish a foothold on the world, a distinct contrast to their previous attacks up to this point.[52][53] During the first two weeks of November Clan Wolf managed to force the Hell's Horses off Hohenems, while launching counterattacks against several other worlds nearby that had been captured by the Hell's Horses.[53][54]
