The Hallis was a martial family with at least three hundred years of history, in which they were part of the Amaris Civil War, the founding of the Clans and the Battle of Tukayyid. However, after Tukayyid, two Clans annihilated all known members of the family.[1]

History[edit]

Origins[edit]

The first known member of the family was a General in the Star League Defense Force, Frederick Hallis.[2] Operation EXODUS divided the family, as one of the general's sons, Franklin Hallis, joined the exodus, and later followed Nicholas Kerensky in his Second Exodus at Strana Mechty, becoming one of the 800 Warriors that founded The Clans, while two of his siblings stayed behind in the Inner Sphere.[2] Franklin was assigned to the newfound Clan Wolverine, eventually ascending to the post of SaKhan, but died when his clan was annihilated.[3] Nicholas Kerensky, knowing some Wolverines had escaped, created what was called a Trial of Bloodright: a reward to those that could erase traces of Clan Wolverine.[4]

Clan Invasion[edit]

Operation REVIVAL surprised two of the Hallis family serving in the Com Guards, Bordon Hallis and Jodi Ann Hallis, and both were killed in the Battle of Tukayyid—the former by Clan Steel Viper and the latter by Clan Nova Cat.[5]

Annihilation[edit]

After uncovering the distant and indirect relationship between the Inner Sphere Hallis and Franklin Hallis, both Clans decided to annihilate the entire remaining family: the three sons of Bordon.[6]

Kristin Hallis was a tank commander in the Draconis Combine Mustered Soldiery, his brother Leonard Hallis was a pacifist engineer of the NAIS on Northwind, and their brother Andrew Hallis was an lieutenant in a Eridani Light Horse Regiment. Two Stars from rival Clans competed to locate and kill all three in combat. Their success eliminated all known surviving members of the Hallis name.[7]

Family Heirlooms and Holdings[edit]

Notes[edit]

  • Theoretically, Andrew was the last Hallis alive, but his words, when dealing with the Vipers, about no matter what happened in the Trial, "no Clansman ever comes after any family still left to me" implies than some of his relatives, illegitimate or hidden, may be still alive.[8]
  • While the short story Redemption and Malice suggests that Clan Wolverine has surviving descendants living during the closing days of the Dark Age with the main character's full name secretly revealed as Halloran Hallis, it is unclear what kind of relation he has with the Hallis Bloodname and House Hallis.
