Colonel Ibis von Rohrs was the commanding officer of the Second Sword of Light after 2475.[1]

History[edit]

"Ibis" was a nom de plume for von Rohrs, as her true first name has not been recorded by history.

Nox[edit]

She was assigned to the Second Sword of Light after the unit was first equipped with BattleMechs and sent to conquer Nox. The battle was noteworthy for having been the site of the first-large scale BattleMech battle in the history of the Inner Sphere. The Draconis Combine assaulted Nox in 2475, making use of their newly-fielded BattleMech forces, developed in secret following the Combine acquiring BattleMech technology in the early 2460s. The assault, spearheaded by the Second Sword of Light regiment, saw the Combine forces suffer a heavy defeat at the hands of the primitive Lyran COM-1A Commando.[2] The loss on Nox was sufficiently humiliating that the reputation of the primitive GLD-1R Gladiator 'Mech was permanently tarnished, with production halted and investment instead made into the development of the new Von Rohrs as the Combine's primary BattleMech. The Second Sword of Light's performance resulted in their commanding officer being quickly replaced by Colonel Ibis von Rohrs.[3][1]

Later Career[edit]

As commanded of the 2nd Sword, von Rohrs let her ego get ahead of her ability, leading every battle from the front. She however focused her attention on duels with combat vehicles and infantry, leaving her subordinates to shield her from counterattacks from 'Mechs. This attitude resulted in the joke that being a lancemate of von Rohrs was a good way to get a discharge from the DCMS, given the amount of fire her lance inevitable drew in their engagements with Lyran Commonwealth forces.

Ultimately, von Rohrs was captured by Steiner forces after they made a successful flanking assault while on Galuzzo. It was joked later in the Succession Wars that the concept of Lyran Social Generals came from Steiner nobility copying Ibis von Rohrs lifestyle.[1]

BattleMech[edit]

Von Rohrs was known to have piloted a Von Rohrs BattleMech.[1]
