Overview[edit]

The Jaguar Grenadiers was formed early in the history of Clan Smoke Jaguar. They were frequently used as the shock troops of Alpha Galaxy.[2]

History[edit]

Golden Century[edit]

The Grenadiers took part in the 2868 Battle of Circe during the Clan Mongoose Absorption. Initially they were led by Star Colonel Sana Furey, who was killed in the battle.[3]

Operation REVIVAL[edit]

As part of Alpha Galaxy the Jaguar Grenadiers successfully bid for and fought on the following worlds during the invasion of the Inner Sphere:

Wave One[edit]

Bjarred
In March 3050 Trinary Striker, Binary Elemental and the First Battle Trinary attacked Bjarred. The First and Second Bjarred Armored Regiments had sown their landing area, the Donrad Hills, with Vibrabombs. These were only discovered when an Elemental Point Commander triggered one of the devices. Alerted to their presence the rest of Binary Elemntal disarmed the rest. While this was happening the Bjarred Armored Regiments retreated to a heavily damaged Castle Brian named the Bird's Roost. The Grenadiers spent a great deal of time on digging out and destroying the defenders, but only took damage when a wall fell on several Elementals from Trinary Striker.[4][2]

Wave Two[edit]

Cordoux
Alpha Battle Star of the First Battle Trinary landed on Coudoux in May 3050. The defenders, Colette's Crusaders, had placed their BattleMech Company in a defensive position at Lodio Spaceport. In a short and one-sided engagement the Grenadiers overran the Crusaders and captured their DropShips.[5]

Wave Four[edit]

Bangor
In September 3050 the Grenadiers attacked Bangor. Trinary Command led the assault supported by Trinary Assault and the Second Battle Trinary. They faced the Second Benjamin Regulars that had taken position at the city of Bangor Market. The Grenadiers opened first with long range attacked before sending an assault force crashing through the Second's line. The Regulars were forced to withdraw but were hard pressed to maintain an orderly line as the Jaguar attacks did not cease. The Grenadiers had inflicted heavy losses on the DCMS unit and eventually destroyed them at high plateaux of Division Shield overlooking the city .[6][2]

Wave Five[edit]

Tukayyid[edit]

Led by Khan Lincoln Osis himself, the Jaguars' Alpha Galaxy was assigned the primary target city of Dinju Heights, defended by the veteran-ranked Com Guard Fifth Army. Advancing into the Dinju Mountains, the Grenadiers easily brushed aside raids from the remnants of the 50th Com Guard Division which had been decimated by the Khan's Sixth Jaguar Dragoons that had made a combat drop on top of them as they attempted to contest the landing of Smoke Jaguar forces.[7]

When the Grenadiers reached the Dinju pass, Star Colonel Brandon Howell suspected a trap and ordered two Stars forward to flush out any hidden Com Guard units, while the rest of the Grenadiers were ordered to rush the pass at flank speed while hugging its walls. While almost completely obliterating the probe force, the hidden 299th and 323rd Divisions could only engage the bulk of the Grenadiers briefly before they raced past, inflicting heavy losses but unable to prevent a sizable portion of the Jaguar unit making it through to reach the outskirts of Dinju Heights. However when the Sixth Jaguar Dragoons attempted to make their own run, the 299th and 323rd had emerged from hiding and were crowding the floor of the pass, creating a gauntlet of overwhelming firepower with Khan Osis seemingly killed as the Dragoons took heavy casualties.[7]

With Khan Osis' apparent demise following shortly after by the death of saKhan Sarah Weaver during Beta Galaxy's push to the secondary target city of Port Racice, when Precentor Martial Anastasius Focht reinforced the Fifth Army with divisions from Com Guard Second Army, ilKhan Ulric Kerensky was forced to terminate the Jaguar campaign. While the demoralized Beta Galaxy dutifully obeyed, those in Alpha Galaxy were enraged by what they felt was a Wolf Clan snub to their sacrifices and vowed to fight to the death. Unable to fight their way back through the pass to save the Sixth Dragoons from the numerical superiority of the 299th and 323rd, the Grenadiers launched a desperate assault against the 82nd and 322nd Divisions outside Dinju Heights which pushed the Com Guard units back and allowed the surviving Grenadiers an opening to withdraw to their DropShips.[7][8][9][10]
