Jan Sorenson was a twenty-fourth century High Chieftain of the rebels from the Principality of Rasalhague that were fighting against the Draconis Combine.

History[edit]

Jan orchestrated the attack in 2375 that killed most of the branch of the Kurita family on Rasalhague in 2375. Missing among the dead was the body of Oma Kurita, the 18-year-old daughter of Rasalhague District Governor Vladimir Kurita.[1] Oma had been captured by the rebels, and while in captivity she fell in love with and married Jan.

When word of Oma Kurita's fate became known in 2377, Oma's great-uncle[2] Adam Kurita led the rescue operation to free her from the rebels. After several harrowing encounters and an exhaustive firefight, Oma and her newborn son, Daniel, returned to the safety of New Samarkand. Jan was killed during the rescue mission. Oma never recovered from her grief over the death of her husband, sinking deep into an addiction to absinthe. Oma subsequently died in 2397 at only forty years of age from chronic liver failure and related complications.[3]

Legacy[edit]

Jan's son Daniel would go on to seize control of the Principality of Rasalhague with assistance from two of his Kuritan cousins, overthrowing Jason Kurita, serving as Lord with the goal of ending all oppression of its citizens and offering opposition to Nihongi von Rohrs following the 2421 coup that saw Nihongi seize the Draconis Combine throne.[4]
