Janis Nova Cat was an officer within the Purifier Cluster of the Spirit Cats.

Appareance[edit]

She had blue eyes. She displayed several tattoos and body piercings.[3]

History[edit]

During her Trial of Position, Janis had a vision of the glory she would gain for her Clan and herself, and has dedicated herself to the martial pursuits ever since. She has since tattooed her entire body in strange glyphs and symbols only she seems to understand, and she keeps her scalp shaved. She fought and lost a Trial of Grievance against Galaxy Commander Kev Rosse over one of his decisions, and still believes her vision is the true path for the Spirit Cats.

In 3129, she won the right to travel to Irece, one of only a handful of Spirit Cats given the honor in several decades. After consulting with the Oathmaster, she visited the Irece Alpha facility and declared a Trial of Possession for the first Arbalest she saw walk off the assembly line.[1]

In late 3131, Janis faced an unknown enemy fielding several BattleMechs. Using her speed and range to good effect and camouflaging herself well, she kept them occupied until reinforcements arrived.[1]

When ristar Etan Nova Cat got her attention, the competition between them was fierce. Etan's victories led to Janis' attention and they were on a colliding course[3], though it is not know if they solved it.

In 3135, Janis would find herself under the command of Star Colonel Rikkard, whom she regularly clashed with over his perceived inaction and un-Clanlike ways.[4]

Death[edit]

In April 3137, Janis challenged Rikkard to a Trial of Grievance over his hesitation and deal-making with the Oriente Protectorate. Defeating her, Rikkard was forced to kill Janis as she refused to yield and accept the Trial's outcome. In his moment of great despair, Rikkard drew inspiration from Lady Julietta Marik and her duty to her nation. Rikkard realized his honor in winning Marik was only worthwhile if it helped his people, not in how he conducted himself.[2]

BattleMech[edit]

Janis Nova Cat piloted an Arbalest, serial number NC471-21X, which she named "Sanctum".[1]

Notes[edit]

Her Dossier appears to claim she Trialed for the first Arbalest ever to walk off the Irece line, something that happened in 3077. Accordingly this is interpreted as the first she sees.
