Jo's Fourth Cavalry were a mercenary BattleMech battalion hired by the government of Sirius to act as a planetary garrison, in or around 3057. When Alisendar Gyrn took advantage of Operation GUERRERO to launch a takeover of the Procyon and Sirius systems using followers who believed in his delusion that he was the reincarnation of Jerome Blake, the Cavalry were one of his first targets.[1]
Followers of Gyrn who had infiltrated the Cavalry's support staff were responsible for sabotaging key equipment, such as the mercenary commands' JumpShips, and Gyrn had the Cavalry's supplies cut off. Gyrn also arranged for key officers in the Cavalry to be assassinated. Many of the mercenaries attempted to contest Gyrn's actions, but were unsuccessful when they tried to depose Gyrn, and the survivors were forced to retreat into the wilderness.[1]
Following his takeover of both systems and the establishment of the Sirian Holds Gyrn responded to protests by declaring that the worlds needed to be purified through the destruction of all modern technology. Under the guise of running a re-education process, Gyrn's supporters rounded up technicians, intellectuals, dissenters and various other groups and murdered them in killing fields near the planetary capitals.[1] It is unknown if any of the Cavalry survived the initial uprising and the later actions of Gyrn's regime.
