Joey Sosa was a MechWarrior who served in the Seventeenth Recon Regiment, also known as Camacho's Caballeros. Joey was one of those serving in the Caballeros in 3056 when they were employed by Chandrasekhar Kurita to provide security for one of his companies, Hachiman Taro Enterprises. Joey piloted a Hermes II BattleMech in Bronco Company, under the command of Kali "Lady K" MacDougall. On the 2nd of November 3056 the Seventeenth fought a pitched battle in the streets of Masamori, the capital city of Hachiman, against the Ninth Ghost, as a result of machinations by the Internal Security Force. Joey's 'Mech, which he'd named Quicksilver, was destroyed and Joey killed during the opening stages of the battle, one of two 'Mechs and MechWarriors lost in the first sixty seconds of the attack made by Bronco Company, which claimed five Ghost 'Mechs in return.[1]

- Although Joey's rank isn't specified in the novel Close Quarters, all of the MechWarriors mentioned in the novel who are assigned a rank are at least a Lieutenant Junior Grade or higher, making it likely, but not certain, that Joey was either a Lieutenant Junior Grade or Lieutenant Senior Grade.
