History[edit]

Early Succession Wars as Capellan Cuirassiers[edit]

Originally known as the Capellan Cuirassiers, the regiment was stationed on Capricorn III in 2765. They were formed at the order of Chancellor Stephan Liao after he discovered how effective the 1st St. Ives Lancers were. The Cuirassiers were built and trained according to the same techniques as the First St. Ives Lancers, but the soldiers assigned to the regiment were drawn from across the Capellan Confederation. This insured their loyalty to the nation as a whole.[1]

The regiment carried out an invasion of the Terran Hegemony under orders from Chancellor Barbara Liao during the chaotic days of the Amaris Coup, capturing a number of Hegemony worlds. One of these was Marlette, which was also coveted by the Federated Suns.[2]

The unit is storied for seeing more action than any other Capellan regiment during the Early Succession Wars Era. From 2808 to 2812 the regiment was stationed on Ibstock and defended the world from House Marik forces. A decade later in 2822 the Cuirassiers destroyed a Marik sponsored mercenary unit, Salicia's Defiants on Gomeisa.[2]

During the Third Succession War, the unit captured the Capellan rebel Mercenary "Baron" Jakob Mei in 2887. The unit was successful in defending the Capellan world of Bethel from elements of House Davion's Avalon Hussars in 2940.[2]

In 2987 the unit became the backbone of a relief force that helped break the Davion siege of Tikonov by attacking the Federated Suns world of Aosia and causing the Davion units on Tikonov to pull out.[2]

As Justinia's Cuirassiers[edit]

Sometime around 3001 (exact date not given) Colonel Justinia Gordon became the unit commander and the regiment was renamed after her. Under the command of Colonel Gordon the Cuirassiers defended the world of Wei against Davion and Marik attacks.[2]

Except for special missions, the unit was kept in reserve by Chancellor Maximilian Liao from 3015 until the end of the Third Succession War. During this time elements of the Cuirassiers escorted the Chancellor in his secret talks with Duke Michael Hasek-Davion.[2]

Fourth Succession War[edit]

In the Fourth Succession War Justinia's Cuirassiers surrendered after a bitter fight in the failed defense of St. Andre against the 12th Vegan Rangers.[3]
