The Kennard system is the location of at least one habitable world, and as of 3152 was located in the Raven Alliance.[2]

System Description[edit]

The Kennard system is located close to the Dormandaine and Pajarito systems. Its lies Spinward of Terra.[3][4][2]

System History[edit]

The Kennard system was either colonized by the Outworlds Alliance during the Age of War or was an already-inhabited system that became significant enough during this period for Inner Sphere nations to begin recording its location on maps.[3]

Planetary History[edit]

In the mid-twenty-sixth century, Kennard was an agricultural world within the Outworlds Allianc], located close to the Alliance border with the Federated Suns. In 2581, the Star League sent the Outworlds Alliance Task Force consisting of two SLDF corps supported by an auxiliary force from the Draconis Combine to forcibly incorporate the Alliance into the Star League, following the mass rejection of the Pollux Proclamation by the Alliance along with the other major Periphery states. Although Kennard wasn't targeted in the first wave of attacks, it was an early target during the second year of the invasion.[7]

General Amos Forlough, commander of the Star League task force, issued the attack orders for both Kennard and the nearby world of Pitkin on the 6th of January 2582. The militia forces on Kennard consisted of barely a single battalion of light armor and a single battalion of irregular infantry at this point in time, as Kennard was located far from what the Outworlds Alliance Militia considered to be the likely invasion route into the Alliance, making Kennard a low priority for resources. Forlough dispatched the Eighteenth Royal Brigade - one of the three brigades within the Sixth Royal Division of II Corps and fresh from weeks of rebuilding after the Sixth Royal Division had suffered significant losses against the Pitcairn Legion on Sevon in late 2581 - to annex Kennard. The militia posed no real challenge to the Eighteenth Royal Brigade and were eliminated in days.[7]

In contrast to the easy defeat of the Kennard militia, the Eighteenth Royal Brigade forces faced a much stiffer challenge in January and February 2583. The Outworlds Alliance Militia had gained additional regiments from the conflict on Haynesville, which freed up the Pitcairn Legion to start raiding Alliance worlds occupied by Star League forces. The Pitcairn Legion's First Regiment landed on Kennard on the 24th of January in the guise of a regular supply shipment. Led personally by Elias Pitcairn, the Legion revealed itself by striking directly at the Eighteenth Royal Brigade garrison in Clayton, Kennard's capital city. The attack on the Clayton garrison was just the first attack in what became a two-week rampage across Kennard, which saw the Eighteenth Royal Brigade try to pin down the Pitcairn Legion forces as Elias Pitcairn struck at every major SLDF outpost on the planet. When the Legion left Kennard at the end of February the Eighteenth Royal Brigade had been both bloodied and embarrassed by the successful Legion raid.[43]

House Davion forces were allowed to effectively annex Kennard in 2584 by the new commander of the Outworlds Alliance Task Force, Major General Franklin Barnex, following SLDF redeployments which removed units from occupied worlds in the Outworlds Alliance to fight against the Taurian Concordat. On the 1st of August 2585 Kennard was ceded to the Federated Suns along with eight other worlds as part of the terms laid out within the Treaty of Cerberus.[8]

Clan Invasion[edit]

Following excellent performance in the War of 3039, the mercenary command Lindon's Battalion was returned to garrison Kennard, growing into a full regiment thanks to assistance from the Federated Commonwealth, which was grateful for the Battalion's efforts on Bergman's Planet. As the mercenary unit grew in size, members began agitating for a more adventurous posting, something the AFFS High Command took note of after the mercenaries slaughtered a company-strength pirate command that tried to raid Kennard in the late 3040s or early 3050. The mercenaries used their excellent knowledge of the local terrain to hit the pirates as they were attempting to loot warehouses in Clayton, Kennard's capital city, and managed to capture the pirate DropShip.[44]
