Planetary HistoryEdit

Age of WarEdit

In 2401 Free Worlds League forces led by Captain-General Peter Marik were defeated by forces from the Capellan Confederation in the Kwamashu system; the MP from Regulus, Hered Selaj, used the defeat as a political tool to try and engineer the passing of the Captain-General title from House Marik to House Selaj.[4]

Dark AgeEdit

In February 3138 Kwamashu was the site of a major incident between the Oriente Protectorate and the Duchy of Andurien. Upon learning that Andurien was reactivating a BattleMech factory on the planet, Captain-General Jessica Marik dispatched the Eagle's Talons to seize both Kwamashu and the BattleMech plant. The elite Oriente unit arrived in early February and proceeded to carry out their mission, but while they were advancing upon the factory an explosion released radioactive waste into the atmosphere, poisoning the whole world. The Talons and most of the defenders were slain outright, along with thousands of civilians, and the death toll only continued to rise in the following weeks. With enormous amounts of farmland polluted and several major urban centers having to be evacuated, only to find the uncontaminated cities had no room for refugees, the result was an enormous humanitarian disaster.

Both Andurien and Oriente blamed each other for the catastrophe, and war ensued by the end of February. In reality, the explosion had been engineered by two Knights of the Republic of the Sphere with a view to diverting Oriente from attacking the weakened Republic.[31]

Eventually evidence exonerating Andurien came to light and Jessica Marik ended the war. Kwamashu by this point had been annexed to Oriente.[32]
