The Lübeck system was the location of at least two habitable worlds or constructs and located in the Deep Periphery nation known as the Scorpion Empire as of 3141.[2] It is approximately 1,079 light-years from Terra in the coreward/anti-spinward direction.

System Description[edit]

Lübeck is located near the Braunschweig and Dortmund systems.

System History[edit]

Lübeck was one of the systems that formed a part of the Deep Periphery nation known as the Hanseatic League.[3] There were at least two worlds in the Lübeck system not inimical to human life: Lübeck V and Quarantine.[4]

Planetary History[edit]

By 3140, Lübeck V was considered one of the most developed worlds in the Hanseatic League, second only to the nation's capital Bremen. It was one of the League's three open worlds to traders and tourists, and had long been home to numerous powerful merchant families, many of whom held seats on the Council of Merchants.

Hanseatic Crusade[edit]

During Escorpión Imperio's takeover of the Hanseatic League, Seeker Galaxy landed on Lübeck V as part of Wave 3 on 11 April 3140.[6] Facing only minimal resistance in the form of the militia and merchant private security, the world fell in just days.[7] After being alerted of the invaders by fleeing merchants, Captain-Marshal Rudolf Schmidt led a counterattack with Regional Defense Force 1 and Convoy Defense Force 1 on 30 April.[6] They crushed the Fourth Scorpion Seekers quickly due to surprise and sheer numbers, and continued the fight against Seeker Galaxy by employing blistering flanking and envelopment attacks, always striking where the Seekers did not anticipate. Seeker withdrew from Lübeck and linked up with Hellion Galaxy on Bruges. It was the first major victory for the Hansa against the Clan, but left the world with shattered cities, incinerated forests, and ruined farmland.[5]

After the fall of Bremen in October 3140, the remaining Hanseatic League systems would surrender or be conquered by April 3141.[8]

Geography[edit]

Lübeck V was a manufacturing hub due to its impressive mineralogical resources such as germanium and silicon.[1]

Planetary History[edit]

Quarantine was located one interplanetary orbit out from Lübeck and was a world that has been subject to extensive impacts from asteroids or comets at least twice during its history, leaving large numbers of craters, marked themselves by further craters. Other than the craters, Quarantine's most distinctive features were the tawny deserts found on the world. A traveler to Quarantine in 3065 described Quarantine as a world of "wind and silence, dust and time." Quarantine was distant enough from the system primary that the sun was visible during the day as a watery-yellow white pinprick. The Hansa used Quarantine as a quarantine world for those wishing to travel to Lübeck; visitors were required to first register for permission to visit Lübeck through a Customs and Inspection complex located in Quarantine City via a largely time-consuming and bureaucratic process.[4]
