The Lucien Davion was a WarShip named in honor of the Federated Suns' first president, Lucien Davion.

History[edit]

The Avalon-class cruiser Lucien Davion was a Loyalist WarShip during the FedCom Civil War. The Lucian Davion fought in the final naval engagement in the New Avalon system on 8 November 3066. Fighting alongside the Lucien Davion was its sister ship, the Alexander Davion [2] and a pair of Fox-class corvettes, the FCS Antrim[3] and FCS Murmansk.[2] Facing the pro-Davion fleet were five ships consisting of Fox-class corvettes: the FCS Admiral Corinne Donnings, FCS Intrepid, FCS Kentares, and FCS Robinson[3]—led by the Avalon-class FCS Melissa Davion.[2]

The resulting battle saw the Intrepid disabled and the Admiral Corinne Donnings destroyed in the first part of the battle. The Kentares would maneuvere into close proximity to the Alexander Davion and would execute a tactic that shocked both sides: the Kentares activated its K-F Drive, destroying both ships.[3] The Kentares and the Alexander Davion were destroyed in the final phase of the battle. The Lucien Davion surrendered after taking heavy damage and the Murmansk executed a jump from a pirate jump point, vanishing into the unknown.[2]

The FSS Lucien Davion served as the flagship of Princess-Regent Yvonne Steiner-Davion and Tancred Sandoval from 3068 to 3076. The WarShip was moved into orbit over New Avalon as a permanent naval garrison by order of the Princess-Regent after battle 3076.[4]

Destruction[edit]

During the Palmyra Disaster in 3144, the Lucien Davion was destroyed. First Prince Caleb Davion ordered the WarShip to maintain a low-earth geosynchronous orbit directly over his command. That order placed the ship in a poor position to respond to an attack and was vulnerable to attack from a higher altitude. The WarShip was destroyed by a concentrated attack of McFadden's Sky Storm, leaving all of the staged AFFS units trapped on Palmyra's surface. The AFFS units on the surface were destroyed by the Combine's Pocket WarShips orbital bombardment and the following planetary assault.[1][5]
