History[edit]

Formation[edit]

By the end of the Jihad, the LCAF was left with several "orphaned" commands, those with no larger brigade with which to belong. The First Skye Jaegers were the last surviving unit of the Alliance Jaegers, and the Pandora Training Battalion was again homeless with the fall of their homeworld and its associated academy. Meanwhile, the Blackjacks had agreed to permanently join the LCAF, but similarly had no brigade assignment. The Archon ordered these disparate units reorganized into a new brigade under Hauptmann-General Daniel Bishop, tasking Bishop with coordinating and advocating for the disparate regiments.

Though the Blackjacks soon left the brigade to become a new Eleventh Donegal Guards,[4] Bishop quickly scored several major victories. The Skye Jaegers, intended to be part of the brigade only until they were transferred to the Skye Rangers, chose instead to stay with the Commonwealth. Bishop also managed to convince the High Command to rebuild the Tamar Cavaliers and set his brigade up as the liaison office for the private forces of Lyran nobles, a tradition that dated back to legendary units like the Tamar Tigers. Between this and the mustering of new Donegal, Bolan and Buena Jaeger units, Bishop and the Lyran Reserves had managed to secure a much larger level of influence than their lowly position on the supply chain might suggest.[2]

Reorganization[edit]

The twilight years of the Republic were not kind to the Reserves. The Tamar and Pandora Cavaliers were destroyed early in the thirty-second century, a casualty of escalating fighting along the Clan Jade Falcon occupation zone. The Skye Jaegers, on the other hand, were disbanded in 3133 due to suspicions they were tied to "separatist movements." The surviving regiments were reorganized into a new Commonwealth Jaegers brigade.[3]
