MechTalk

MechTalk is a Lyran Commonwealth holovid sports-news show primarily dedicated to the Solaris Games.[1]

Overview[edit]

Produced by the Donegal Broadcasting Company and recorded with a live studio audience at the company's Studio Number Five in Solaris City's Silesia district, MechTalk is a popular and widely broadcast sports-new show dedicated to the BattleMech duels fought on Solaris VII.[1]

The opening titles for MechTalk featured epic and visual exciting clips from the games, such as "Hacker" Hasting's brutal match-ending hatchet strike against Richard "Fury" Fulton in 3066.[2] [3]

With MechTalk fully enmeshed in the theatrics of the games, the host and any guests will generally work out a rough script for any conflicts to ensure they are carefully stage-managed.[1]

Occurring the day before the 3062 Solaris VII Grand Championship, the 10 August 3062 episode of MechTalk was notable, featuring Jarman "The Ripper" Bauer and Stormin' Michael Searcy, due to face each other on Day One of the tournament. Largely focused on Bauer's upset defeat of William Paulson to earn the last slot for the tournament, the interview would veer wildly off-script thanks to efforts of Searcy, who attended largely as a means to provoke his opponent into responding far too aggressively in their upcoming match, knocking Bauer out on camera in front of the shocked host and audience.[1]

MechTalk has had a number of hosts, with Todd Richards being among the longest enduring. Following his retirement from the arenas, 3065 to 3066 Solaris Games Grand Champion Ervin Rebelke would replace Richards as host of the show.[4]
