MechWarrior 4: Mercenaries/Stealth

Stealth[edit]

BRIEFING[edit]

Scan the indicated factory buildings at the Von Straub Proving Grounds in preparation for a full-scale assault on this Defiance facility.

Castle: This mission is one step away from aligning ourselves with Victor Steiner-Davion for the rest of the civil war. Intel calls for us to make a covert scan of the Defiance proving grounds. If we do it properly, we won’t necessarily have tipped our hand on taking sides, but we’ll be very close.

DURING MISSION[edit]

Castle: Okay, sir. We’re nearing the proving grounds. Go to passive sensors to further hide your presence from the base defenders.

Castle: Good. Now make your approach to Alpha and hold there while allied forces draw off defending ‘Mechs.

Spectre: Castle, I’m on the ridge at Alpha.

Castle: Hold position there until the base defenders have been drawn off. If you don’t get past at least the first target building before they spot you, we’ll have to abort mission.

Castle: There! The base is clear of ‘Mechs! Get to Beta fast and scan the Armor Integrity Lab.

Spectre: I’m on it.

Spectre: I’m at the lab.

Castle: Stay close to the building. It’ll take at least three-zero seconds to scan.

Spectre: Looks like a pair of Zeuses. Nothing too fancy.

Castle: Roger. Double time it to Gamma and check the Weapons Integration Lab.

Spectre: I’m at the weapons lab. Scanning.

Spectre: Bingo! Two Fafnir Assault ‘Mechs. Will you look at the stats on those things?

Castle: Later, Commander. Make best speed to Delta and get out of there. Base defenders have broken off and are returning to your positions.

Spectre: I’m out of here. Making best speed to Nav Point Delta.

Castle: Leave your radar passive, sir. You don’t want the enemy to spot you.

Castle: Sir, I show you on clear scope. Looks like you’re home free. Bring those scan reports back to TacOps and we’ll see more clearly what our friends at Defiance are cooking up.

Spectre: Setting course for base. Spectre out.

AFTERMATH[edit]

Castle: We have confirmation of the Fafnirs on site. It’s a sure bet that Victor will want them taken out. If we do take on an assault in the open, we can kiss goodbye any future contracts with Katrina Steiner.
