The Milvano system was home to at least one habitable world and as of 2750 was located in the Erdvynn Province of the Rim Worlds Republic.[1][2]

System Description[edit]

The Milvano system is located near the Calvados and Cruz Alta systems.[1][2]

System History[edit]

The Milvano system was colonized at some point during or prior to the Age of War.[3] Milvano vanished from maps during the Third Succession War, indicating that the system had been abandoned, depopulated or rendered too insignificant to merit further recording on maps by Inner Sphere nations.[4][5]

Reunification War[edit]

By the end of the Age of War, Milvano was a part of the Timbuktu Province of the Rim Worlds Republic, the Erdvynn Province not having been established at that point in time.[3]

Civil war erupted in the Rim Worlds Republic in 2575, with the factions polarized around those loyal to First Consul Gregory Amaris and those loyal to the Rift Republican Army and the Rim Provisional Government.[30] The Star League eventually decided to intervene in the civil war in support of Gregory Amaris, and in 2579 assembled Task Force MAILED FIST to help secure Amaris' control over the Rim Worlds Republic. A multinational force headed by the Star League Defense Force, Task Force MAILED FIST was responsible for executing Operation MAILED FIST, the name given to the military intervention. The first wave of attacks focused on securing significant worlds near Apollo,[31] until a destructive raid on Alarion by the Fourth Amaris Fusiliers in retaliation prompted the SLDF to alter its initial strategy for the campaign, the focus shifted to reducing Rim Worlds Army concentrations throughout the Republic and the capture of key worlds.[32]

In late 2584, the SLDF changed tactics again; a number of major RWA units had been destroyed or captured, and the focus for the campaign shifted to capturing worlds of strategic importance, but the campaign was slowed by the greatly increased resistance offered by the RWA and local civilian populations, prompted by atrocities performed by the Draconis Auxiliary Corps when they captured Nightwish in mid-2584. The conquest of Milvano was one such example of a campaign that took longer than originally planned due to the level of resistance offered by the civilian population; Duke Narinder Selaj of Battle Group Timbuktu assigned the Draconis Auxiliary Corps to conquering Milvano in 2586, but even a year after the planetary capital had been occupied instances of civil unrest were still occurring[33][34] despite the brutality displayed by the Second and Seventh Sword of Light Regiments and the Fourth Proserpina Hussars.[35]

Star League Era[edit]

Following the coup launched by Stefan Amaris, Commanding General Aleksandr Kerensky, the Commanding Officer of the Star League Defense Force, announced that he intended to occupy the Rim Worlds Republic. General Kerensky established the Fourteenth Army Group as the lead Army Group for the invasion, divided the invasion forces into two task forces, one headed by himself, and the other by General Aaron DeChavilier.[36] Like the rest of the Republic worlds, Milvano was invaded by the SLDF; located on Milvano was one of twenty fortresses constructed by the SLDF prior to the Army Group Amaris being ordered to withdraw from the Republic in 2755. The fortress on Milvano, named Camp Sienna, was used by pro-Amaris insurgent forces as a base. Following a two-week battle against SLDF troops for control of the fortress, the insurgents committed suicide by detonating the reactor that provided power to the base, killing themselves and two regiments of SLDF infantry - the single greatest loss of life for the SLDF during the entire Rim Worlds Campaign.[37]
