Murray Cohen was a Sho-sa in the 2nd Alshain Regulars. He was one of the few survivors of the 2nd Alshain Regulars that in October of 3050 suffered devastating losses to a Clan Ghost Bear Galaxy on Soverzene. The Second had found itself trapped between two full-strength assault clusters. Facing down the 304th and the 332nd Assault Clusters, the Second found itself being harried and hounded until it had little choice but to retreat to their ammunition supply base. That retreat revealed the base's location, which the Ghost Bears promptly attacked and destroyed using aerospace fighters; this left the second short on ammunition and retreating north, with the 304th Assault Cluster hot on their heels. Herded by Clan aerospace fighters, the Second retreated into a forest, not realizing that the 332nd were in place and waiting for them. Pinned between the two Assault Clusters, the Second took heavy damage, but some survivors managed to slip free.[1]
In Garstedt, the 3rd Alshain Regulars retreated to a fortified position called the grotto when elements of the Seventh Jaguar Dragoons arrived. The unit commander Tai-sa Albert Brookhaven expected that the Clan troops would attack his position, but nothing happened. Coming to the conclusion that his command had only two choices: sit and wait for the ultimate death or to trying to getting their DropShips. The Tai-sa used his scouts to find a secure way out. During the slow relocation to the spaceport the Jaguars arrived. The fighting retreat saw the sacrifice of an entire battalion, including the command lance, in order to see the other two battered battalions safely off-world.[2]
He rose to command the 3rd Alshain Regulars in 3054.[3]
In Schuyler, the 7th Jaguars followed the survivors with the goal to finish the job. The 3rd had time to repair their damaged equipment and to prepare several supply depots. The Jaguars were surprised to fight a tougher enemy as before. After 7 days of battle the supplies of the Trinary were running short. The Clan commander called for reinforcement, but before it arrived the 3rd retreated once again offworld.[4]
Murray Cohen was one of the survivors.
By 3058 he commanded the 15th Alshain Avengers.[5]
The 15th joined with two other Avenger regiments in the Black Dragon Society's Operation Batu, the attempt to seize the former Alshain Military District capital of Alshain. The regiments suffered heavy losses while still in orbit and were completely destroyed after landing on planet in October 3062.[6]
After hearing of the betrayal of the Avengers, Coordinator Theodore Kurita ordered the death of all member of the Avengers who invaded Alshain, should they survive the invasion.[7]
