Nicholas Spacecraft was a military supplier for the Terran Hegemony.

Overview[edit]

Nicholas Spacecraft was a manufacturer most well-known for producing the Bastion class of space defense stations.[1][2] Nicholas Spacecraft operated a significant shipyard known as the Apollo-Four complex in the New Earth system, located near the planet Tau Ceti V; when Stefan Amaris launched his takeover of the Terran Hegemony, Operation APOTHEOSIS, two Star League Defense Force flotillas in the New Earth system found themselves under attack by a squadron of Rim Worlds Republic WarShips. Eighteen SLDF WarShips fought twenty Republican WarShips in a naval battle within the system, with the SLDF forces consisting predominantly of a convoy escort group that had been preparing for a resupply mission to the Periphery under the command of Commodore Altran Serdamba, leading four destroyers and nine corvettes from his command ship, the Luxor-class cruiser SLS Van der Bergh; also in the system at the time was Vice Admiral Dmitrios Rummolo and his flagship, the Texas-class battleship SLS Wales, along with a squadron consisting of a Congress-class frigate and two Essex-class destroyers. Vice Admiral Rummolo was due to take command of the Ninth Fleet on promotion, and had only been in the system a few days when the Rim Worlds vessels arrived.[3]

The battle cost the SLDF eight WarShips, although they destroyed fourteen Republican WarShips before the Rim Worlds forces withdrew; Rummolo ordered Serdamba to take his surviving ships and the two surviving destroyers from Rummolo's group to the Tau Ceti V Lagrange point to defend the Apollo-Four shipyards, while Rummolo led fourteen military and civilian JumpShips out of the system to a secret SLDF facility later known as Freedom Station.[3] It is unclear if the Apollo-Four shipyards survived the Amaris Civil war.
