The Nova Cat Rangers raided the Dominion world of Halesowen in November 3096. This engagement was a glaring example of the state of affairs between the two Clans. Garrisoning the planet was the Third Bear Guards; the raid would turn ugly for the Ghost Bear forces. By their final encounter with the Guards, the Rangers had whittled the Ghost Bear Cluster down to two Stars. To maximize salvage, the Rangers' commander, Star Captain Eli Rosse, refused to give the Guards hegira. This lack of honor in battle between the Clans would set both Clans down a brutal, merciless path.[3]
During the Second Combine-Dominion War. Clan Ghost Bear targeted the strategic hub of the Nova Cat forces, and the Fourth Bear Regulars and the 73rd Battle Custer were tasked with taking Caripare in 3099 and annihilating the Nova Cat Rangers. Their task was to capture the Nova Cats' munitions and genetic archives in two different locations on planet. The two Clusters split their assault on the two facilities, with the Rangers having to make tough decisions to safeguard the Clan's civilians and supplies. At Fort Felis on 31 July, a Trinary of tanks manned by volunteers from other castes joined with a Binary of 'Mechs from the Rangers to prevent the Fourth Bears Regulars from taking the Fort. The Nova Cats would pay with their lives so the evacuations could succeed.[4]
At the city of Dabuteshire, the 73rd Battle launched their attack while the majority of the Rangers were covering the Nova Cat civilians' evacuation. The Bears' commander attempted to overrun the Rangers' positions to prevent them escaping. Determined to ensure the Nova Cat civilians' evacuation, the Rangers engaged the 73rd in a brutal battle where each combatant exhausted their ammunition reserves and turned to physical combat with their machines. By the 7th of August, the Nova Cat Rangers were destroyed and had nearly destroyed the 73rd Battle Cluster in return. Their actions allowed the civilian Nova Cats to evacuate the planet with the Clan's genetic repositories, sibkos, and crèche.[4]
