Omicron Cluster was formed in 3132 as part of then Republic of the Sphere senator and Clan Nova Cat Galaxy Commander Kev Rosse's Spirit Cats splinter faction.

This cluster, like all Spirit Cat forces, appears to have originally been drawn from the Republic's Clan militia clusters in Prefecture III. The skill of Omicron's troops was considered to be on par with a regular line unit and fanatically devoted to their leader but, unlike the other Spirit Cat clusters, seemed to believe that Kev Rosse's political message was more important than his prophetic visions. The cluster's pragmatic point of view, more akin to their mainstream Nova Cat brethren in the Draconis Combine, was a source of friction with Rosse's more devout followers among the Spirit Cats, who looked at the cluster's members with pity or hostility. This prejudice resulted in the Omicron troops being given lower-quality training and equipment.[1]
By 3138, Omicron Cluster was noted to have been formerly attached to Spina Khanate's Delta Aimag, the cluster's founders having chosen to remain as ground troops for the Clan Protectorate. It is unclear at this time whether this means that the cluster was trialed for by Delta Aimag at some point, or if the original cluster was destroyed or rendered combat ineffective following the notably difficult fighting to conquer Marik[2] and rebuilt with Sea Fox troops. In any case, the decision to stay was unpopular amongst Delta's leadership, forcing the Cluster to declare and win a Trial of Refusal against difficult odds.
During engagements the Cluster prefers to employ sustained long-range missile fire before closing in for the kill.[3]
