History[edit]

The Potemkin-class cruiser Osis' Pride was a Star League Defense Force WarShip that survived the Hegemony Campaign to liberate Terra from the forces of Stefan Amaris, and subsequently followed General Aleksandr Kerensky on the Exodus and fell under the control of Clan Smoke Jaguar, at which point it was clearly renamed.

It was one of the WarShips in the Clan Smoke Jaguar touman to survive the Annihilation of the Smoke Jaguars during Operation Bulldog. As of 3067 it was rumored that the Osis' Pride was roaming the Periphery, acting as a mobile citadel for the surviving Smoke Jaguar warriors to venture out of as they raided Periphery worlds.[2]

In July 3072 the Osis' Pride jumped into an unmarked system close to the Clan Diamond Shark trade route between the Clan Homeworlds and the Inner Sphere only to discover another Potemkin-class WarShip in the system. The other WarShip was the Clan Ice Hellion WarShip CIH Coterie, stranded as a result of a KF-Drive failure following a jump away from an ambush by forces from Zeta Galaxy of Clan Burrock in April that year. The Coterie was carrying the last survivors of the Ice Hellion touman following Operation ICE STORM, the failed Ice Hellion invasion of the Clan Jade Falcon Occupation Zone in the Inner Sphere.[3]

The Osis' Pride was unable to make contact with the Coterie because the communications systems on the Pride were in a state of disrepair; however, newly-promoted Khan Connor Rood, elevated in rank after the death of Khan Raina Montose, took a small craft across to the Osis' Pride, and while the chain of events aboard the Osis' Pride are undocumented, he reached an accommodation with the surviving crew aboard the ship.[3]

The Coterie and the Osis' Pride docked together, and as much by way of cargo, matériel, men and salvage as possible from the Coterie was moved onto the Osis' Pride. The transfer and repairs took a month, during which JumpShips twice appeared in the system and were promptly engaged by the single remaining Star of aerospace fighters left functioning aboard the Osis' Pride; one JumpShip was destroyed, and the second, an Inner Sphere pattern Tramp-class vessel, jumped out after the first fighter pass.[3]

When the transfers were complete the Osis' Pride was fully manned and at least partially repaired; the Coterie was nudged into a decaying orbit around the local star, and the Osis' Pride set out for the Homeworlds, now in service as the CIH Osis' Pride, the last functioning WarShip in the Ice Hellion touman.[3]

When the Osis' Pride returned to the Homeworlds at the end of December 3072, the single WarShip and the three Trinaries of the 200th Attack Cluster represented a significant boost for the heavily depleted Clan, whose enclaves outside Hector had been stripped away through predation by the other Clans, Bandit Caste forces and the Society while the HPG network across the Homeworlds was inactive.[4]

In 3073, Rood negotiated with the Khan of Clan Goliath Scorpion with a view to having the surviving Ice Hellion elements merge with Clan Goliath Scorpion, his preferred alternative to seeing the Ice Hellions vanish completely. The offer was initially rejected - the Goliath Scorpions resenting any implication that they might be in a weak enough state to need to merge with another - with Rood being honest and open about the perilous state the Hellions were in, the Goliath Scorpions offered to Absorb the Hellions in a fashion that limited the number of losses.[5]

The proposal was agreed by both Clan Councils, and following a ferocious but brief battle between a Star of forces from each Clan in March 3074, the remaining Ice Hellion holdings and touman joined the Goliath Scorpions, with Connor Rood being elected to the post of saKhan in place of Kelton Myers, who had been killed during the Trial. With the Absorption complete, the Osis' Pride became the CGS Osis' Pride.[5]

The Osis' Pride was scrapped and stripped for spare parts in 3077 to allow the Scorpions to make repairs on the other WarShips in their touman in the wake of the Wars of Reaving.[1]
