Planetary History[edit]

Reunification War[edit]

Praxton didn't attract significant attention from the Star League and Draconis Combine forces during Operation UNION HOLD, the five-year campaign from 2581 to 2585 intended to forcibly incorporate the Outworlds Alliance into the Star League. The nearby worlds of Banori and Loparri were subject to damaging raids by Star League forces, acting under orders from the Outworlds Alliance Task Force commander, General Amos Forlough, to defeat the will and means of the Alliance to resist by targeting towns, cities and infrastructure on worlds across the Alliance. Praxton may well have been a target for such a raid as well, except for the pivotal battle now known as the Day of Vengeance fought on the nearby mining world of Tellman IV, which stopped the Star League raids indefinitely.[41] After the Treaty of Cerberus came into effect on the 1st of August 2585, Praxton remained a member of the Outworlds Alliance.[4][5][42]

Praxton is the only industrialized planet in the Outworlds not located near the center of Alliance space. The value of the fusion engines built here and the short transit time from the system's jump point make Praxton a prime target for Periphery raiders. The standing orders of the units stationed here forbid the troops to go to the aid of nearby worlds under attack. Pirates in the area try to decoy the defenders of the Praxton factories away with diversionary raids on the neighboring worlds, but the power plants produced by Praxton Fusion are simply too valuable to endanger.[citation needed]

Jihad[edit]

During the Jihad, Praxton was hit by almost no raids or sabotage from the Inferno terrorists backed by the Word of Blake and acting out of Dante. The same wasn't true for other pirate and bandit groups: by 3075, Praxton had been suffering from a constant succession of attacks by pirates and rogue mercenary groups, at least one of which was believed to have been bankrolled by or acting under orders from the Federated Suns. Unfortunately for the raiders, the Alliance Borderers remained on Praxton constantly, as the standing order to have the planet under guard at all times hadn't been rescinded; adding to Praxton's defenses were the Joyless Rogers stationed nearby on Ferris. Given the distinct possibility that that the FedSuns attackers may have been acting under false orders, President Mitchell Avellar pragmatically chose not to pursue the incident further.[43]
