A citizen of the planet Hachiman, Preetam Masakawa was an employee of Hachiman Taro Enterprises, one of the many companies owned by Chandrasekhar Kurita. In 3056 Preetam was assigned as the liaison between HTE and the 17th Recon Regiment - colloquially known as "Camacho's Caballeros" - after Chandrasekhar employed the mercenary regiment to provide security. Described as a dark little round-headed man who wore an Aloha shirt and spectacles with big round lenses, among the responsibilities Preetam found himself shouldering was escorting Lieutenant Cassie Suthorn and a number of the fiercely independent members of the Seventeenth's Scout Platoon around businesses located on the boundaries of the HTE complex as they surveyed the local terrain. Preetam reported to Chandrasekhar's head of security, Mirza Peter Abdulsattah.[1]
Evidently an eager employee of HTE, it was Preetam who helpfully informed the Seventeenth that the HTE Sportsplex located outside Masamori - the Hachiman capital city where a battalion of the Seventeenth were billeted - had been partially built using panels made from a synthetic material processed from human waste through an HTE-owned sewage treatment facility, a revelation that led to a number of complaints from members of the regiment.[2]
