History[edit]

As of 3059 the Sovetskii Soyuz-class heavy cruiser Reaver was a WarShip within the Clan Fire Mandrill touman and was serving as the CFM Reaver. The Reaver was one of only seven WarShips in the Fire Mandrill touman at this point.[1] In 3067, following the alliance of Kindraa Payne with Kindraa Beyl-Grant to form what was effectively Kindraa Payne-Beyl-Grant, the Reaver served as a part of Kindraa Payne-Beyl-Grant's naval forces. The Reaver operated alongside the Lola III-class destroyer CFM Anathema and the Carrack-class transport CFM Howler, although by 3067 the Howler had been renamed the Firehold.[2]

In 3069 the Reaver found itself involved in a campaign between various Kindraa and Clan Coyote. Khan Silas Kufahl of Clan Coyote was hoping to expand the Clan Coyote Clan Coyote touman by exploiting the widening gaps between the various Fire Mandrill Kindraa, ultimately hoping to Absorb one of the Kindraa and their assets. Kufahl's efforts were rebuffed by Khan Sainze of the Fire Mandrills, but subsequent negotiations with Kindraa Mattila-Carrol proved successful; as a result of training exercises, Trials and then direct exchanges of knowledge, Kindraa Mattila-Carrol increased its touman by nearly half through Coyote sibkin, boosting its ProtoMech forces in particular. In exchange, the Coyotes gained an enclave on Shadow, five generations of breeding rights for the Carrol Bloodname and, most importantly, a prototype ProtoMech equipped with the electrical armor newly developed by Kindraa Sainze and only recently disseminated across the various Kindraa.[3]

Realizing the importance of the prototype they had obtained, the Coyotes immediately moved to garrison their new enclave on Shadow with four full Clusters of troops and attendant DropShips. The Coyote enclave was almost immediately subject to challenges from outraged Kindraa, with Kindraa Mick-Kreese-Kline, Kindraa Sainze and Kindraa Faraday-Tanaga all pressing claims. It was only with some twenty Bloodnamed warriors killed that Khan Sainze reluctantly broke off the Trials, allowing the Coyotes to remain on Shadow. However, in late 3069 Kindraa Payne-Beyl-Grant launched a series of Trials against various Coyote holdings, including the contested holding on Shadow and the enclave on Foster responsible for producing the Savage Coyote BattleMech.[3]

Despite outnumbering the Coyotes two-to-one on Shadow, the Kindraa Payne-Beyl-Grant forces couldn't evict the Coyotes, and the battle rapidly got out of hand when the Reaver broke zellbrigen; although it wasn't a part of the Coyote's defensive bids, the Essex-class destroyer CCS Windrunner was in the Shadow system, and when the Windrunner moved into orbit above Shadow the Reaver exchanged a broadside pass with the Coyote ship. The Coyotes responded by declaring the Payne-Beyl-Grant forces to be dezgra, wiping out the Seventeenth Auxiliary Cluster and the First Striker Payne on the ground. The repercussions of the Reaver's actions went beyond the defeat at Shadow; the other Kindraa refused to help Kindraa Payne-Beyl-Grant rebuild their losses, and ultimately lost their position as ilKindraa to Kindraa Sainze.[3]
