Heir to the Dragon[edit]

So James Sandoval gets a couple of "first person" chapters in Heir to the Dragon. Problem is, the info there doesn't match the stuff here (which I assume was taken from the War of 39 book and other legit refs). According to the novel, he never went to the NAIS, he commanded the 1st Robinson Rangers during '39, his father retired as Duke to go lobby on New Avalon, etc. Any thoughts on this? They are taken from legit references are from Field Manual: Fed Suns. The Heir to the Dragon is older than the Field Manual, Usually you run into newer sources trumps the older ones policys which Battletech writers employ. I'd would ask the Writers on this one. However, later novels from the FedCom Civil War also have him as well, as he aging causes the Incursions during the conflict and leading to him being topple from power. I'm not sure if includes him going NAIS. He could have gone to both locations. -- Wrangler 01:07, 21 May 2010 (UTC)
Actually, 'Heir' specifically says he DID NOT go to NAIS. But thank you. ClanWolverine101 01:53, 21 May 2010 (UTC)
In the canon hierarchy, sourcebooks trump novels, regardless of publication date. That said:
  1. The article does not say he went to school at NAIS, it says that he was an instructor at NAIS.
  2. The wording is awkward, but it states that James' father died eleven years after he retired.
  3. The article does not exclude the possibility that he led troops into battle in 3039 (in fact, he did), the information is just not present. --Scaletail 02:16, 21 May 2010 (UTC)
Fair enough, and good job on the War of '39 additions. ClanWolverine101 01:26, 22 May 2010 (UTC)
