Talk:Technical Readout: 3057

Closing passage[edit]

"Technical Readout: 3057 is the bastard stepchild of the TROs; it carries no CBT board game units and it changed the artwork from the earlier Technical Readout: 2750, which angered some fans. However, it did well enough in sales to allow for the creation of JumpShip and WarShip miniatures." This passage bothers me as it's making a rather harsh judgment on the sourcebook. While I know this isn't Wikipedia, this just smacks of a POV opinion. While some of the information is good, it could be written in a much less POV manner. For instance:

"Technical Readout: 3057 is an unusual TRO in that it carries no CBT board game units. Further it changed the artwork from the earlier Technical Readout: 2750, which did not go over well with some fans. However, it did well enough in sales to allow for the creation of JumpShip and WarShip miniatures."

Another thing is that I'm not certain it should be added as a note at the bottom of the article, but rather integrated into the main book description text of the article. --Peregry 04:21, 19 March 2010 (UTC)

It's also false since Dropships are CBT board game units. --Neufeld 07:38, 19 March 2010 (UTC)
Peregry, be bold! You also have the second of the Five Pillars core policy on your side. I like how you stated it. --Revanche (talk|contribs) 11:33, 19 March 2010 (UTC)
"Bastard Stepchild" is not exactly language I'd associate with 'neutral POV' either--Istal devalis 14:43, 19 March 2010 (UTC)
Since nobody is objecting, I'm going to change the page note to what I proposed above. --Peregry 19:56, 20 March 2010 (UTC)
Wrong I objected, since dropships are Total Warfare/Tech Manual compatible units. see above. --Neufeld 20:20, 20 March 2010 (UTC)
I meant to the POV edit. Also, none of the things in this TRO were compatible at the time (plus were built using the old Battlespace system), so the statement is factually accurate. --Peregry 22:14, 20 March 2010 (UTC)
I certainly agree the statement above is a bit to opinion-driven. Regarding DropShips - Neufeld is correct that Aerotech produced material that allowed for simple usage of Dropships in a CBT game. However, CBT, Aerotech (1 & 2) and Battlespace were all fundamentally separate games. I was a bit annoyed when I bought Battlespace and discovered that it made Aerotech all but irrelevant. Then i realized Battlespace was a decent enough game on its own. (I did NOT spend money on Aerotech 2, however. Just saying.) Simply put : TRO3057 is for Battlespace players, not CBT players. *gets off soapbox* ClanWolverine101 22:31, 20 March 2010 (UTC)
