HistoryEdit

Star League EraEdit

The Twelfth Avalon Hussars and its sister regiment, the Eleventh Avalon Hussars, were both technically light horse regiments rather than hussar regiments during the Star League era. Equipped with lighter BattleMechs and augmented by a conventional aircraft detachment, the Twelfth was a skilled reconnaissance formation. The Twelfth was the Avalon Hussars regiment stationed on New Avalon when the Amaris Civil War broke out in the Terran Hegemony; tradition dictated that one regiment from the brigade should be stationed on New Avalon at all times, and the various regiments rotated the duty, each taking a five-year tour. The Twelfth served on New Avalon until 2770, at which point the Thirteenth rotated in.[1]

Succession WarsEdit

The Twelfth Avalon Hussars fought throughout the First Succession War, and by the time the war drew to a close the Twelfth were operating at below half their pre-War strength.[3] The Twelfth rebuilt in the inter-war period to perhaps twice the combat strength they had finished the First Succession War with, but the Twelfth were one of seven Avalon Hussars regiments to be destroyed during the Second Succession War.[2]

TacticsEdit

Star LeagueEdit

During the Star League era all of the Avalon Hussars were required to focus on being both flexible and mobile, with every regiment required to be capable of deploying within eight hours, although many of the Hussars struggled to actually achieve this. The Twelfth was supported by an aerospace wing, although the wing was primarily attached to the Eleventh to provide ground support.[1]

- At this point in time the Hussars were a medium-weight regiment stationed on New Avalon and were operating at just below half their pre-war strength.[3]

2830Edit

Twelfth Avalon Hussars (Regiment/Veteran/Fanatical)[2]

- At this point in time the Hussars were a medium-weight regiment and had rebuilt to the point that they were operating at approximately twice the operational strength they'd been able to muster at the end of the First Succession War. The Hussars were stationed on Brabent.[2] The unit was destroyed during the war. [2]

RulesEdit

First Succession WarEdit

  • Between 2786 and 2807, the composition of randomly-generated lances from the Twelfth Avalon Hussars are determined using a single roll on the Random Unit Assignment Tables per lance, with all of the lance 'Mechs being the resulting type. Between 2808 and 2819, the lance composition is determined using two rolls on the Random Unit Assignment Tables per lance, and from 2820 lance composition is determined using one roll per 'Mech per lance.[4]
  • When generating Twelfth Avalon Hussars forces using Random Unit Assignment Tables during the First Succession War, Twelfth Avalon Hussars receive a +4 modifier to each roll on the appropriate table.[5]
