Minor Nobility[edit]

Hi Dmon, hope your doing well. I saw your recent posting of articles regarding nobility in the Chaos March. Why are you posting one-line entries? Are you building foundation of bigger articles or you just posting what available about them? There really minor thing, if anything they should be housed in one-lump sum articles of notabilities in Chaos March. -- Wrangler (talk) 17:14, 28 October 2015 (PDT)

Hey Wrangler, I am building up a foundation of something bigger. I don't quite know how big but I am busy pulling strings of info from all over the BT universe. A lot of it is little bits that have largely been ignored by the wiki up until now.--Dmon (talk) 17:23, 28 October 2015 (PDT)
I was wondering that as well. Good to see you back in full force! -BobTheZombie (talk) 17:35, 28 October 2015 (PDT)
Cheers Bob, I hope to be about a lot more over the next few months, Still getting myself into gear at the moment.--Dmon (talk) 17:50, 28 October 2015 (PDT)

"Preceded by" and "Followed by"[edit]

Hi Dmon, I've just reverted your edits to the Halloween products where you inserted subsequent/following products in the infoboxes as "Preceded by" and "Followed by". From my understanding, these fields in the Infobox exist only for multi-part products and are not meant for products with content that isn't connected in any way. The RPG adventures - be they Halloween, April Fools, or whatever - are standalone products and thus have no publications preceding or following them. (The same basically applies to XTROs; I'll get to these eventually.) Frabby (talk) 08:41, 1 November 2015 (PST)

No problem Frabby, I just noticed on the War of the Tripods article that Cyc had put Empires as preceding but none of the others in the "series" had such info so I thought I was being helpful.--Dmon (talk) 08:45, 1 November 2015 (PST)

Renaming articles to match Alpha Strike conventions[edit]

Hi Dmon. I'd be cautious about changing stuff to exclusively Alpha Strike related things. Alpha Strike isn't replacing Total Warfare related items, the naming conventions are different between two systems. Can you check with Catatyst Game Labs "Ask the Writers" if these naming are going be entirely franchise or it's exclusive to Alpha Strike related items. -- Wrangler (talk) 12:24, 8 November 2015 (PST)

The terminology is often interchangeable within the franchise. I am using the Alpha Strike conventions because that rule set puts a lot more emphasis on force structure than classic BattleTech. Changing out Unit for Formation is not going to make a lot of difference I imagine. Wing and Nova where both appended with (unit) and all the other Clan formations simply had (Clan) so this has actually unified the naming conventions across the wiki now and makes the clan terms a little clearer as to what they are.--Dmon (talk) 12:31, 8 November 2015 (PST)

First Families of New Avalon[edit]

Hi Dmon, can you give me the pdf page number of House Davion (The Federated Suns), i have the hard copy and can add citations with page numbers, but i dont know on which page i can find the citation you needed.--Doneve (talk) 03:04, 24 November 2015 (PST)

Hey Doneve, The info starts in the section entitled "Rise of Neo-Feudalism", House Davion, Jorgesson and DuVall are confirmed in the same section. Lockhart and Cartwright are on the next page under "First Prime Ministers". Marsin and Bulow are under the heading "First Families War".
And Fabiers are found a few pages later in the thext above the info box entitled "Lucien Davion: Visionary Leader".--Dmon (talk) 12:34, 24 November 2015 (PST)
Okidoki, i finish a couple of planet updates, then i add citations to the First Families of New Avalon page.--Doneve (talk) 12:52, 24 November 2015 (PST)
Cheers--Dmon (talk) 13:00, 24 November 2015 (PST)

Award[edit]

Dmon - I'm trying to get people to start using the awards again. Your handling of the Anthony Scroggins issue was exactly the kind of situation we have them for. I award you the Vandal Cop Award, 3rd ribbon. Good job. ClanWolverine101 (talk) 17:26, 17 January 2016 (PST)

Hi Dmon, thanks a lot to add missing bio infoboxes, i fixed some litte issus but in this have this award from me All Purpose Award, 3rd ribbon, cheers.--Doneve (talk)

Timeframe reference in articles[edit]

Hi Dmon, with regards to the new articles you're putting up - cf. Solomon Nelson - I have a suggestion/request: Could you please insert some sort of year or era reference into the text? As written, I cannot tell if the man lived during the Star Leage era, or the Jihad era, which makes it kinda hard to put him into context. Frabby (talk) 02:56, 26 January 2017 (EST)

Bloodname Articles[edit]

Dmon - Yay, we're actually doing this! Even if they are place-holders, have a All Purpose Award, 3rd ribbon on me! ClanWolverine101 (talk) 14:20, 19 February 2017 (EST)

Thank you!, It is a big boring task so I am only doing a few at a time but it NEEDS doing!--Dmon (talk) 14:25, 19 February 2017 (EST)

Character Categories[edit]

Hi, noticed you changing over the old house categories to state ones for characters. I was just wondering if you thought it might be useful to retain the house category as well for characters actually from those Houses? Just a thought not a criticism. Smiley.gif - Dark Jaguar (talk) 18:45, 13 June 2017 (EDT)

I am moving the articles to state based ones to better allow for characters who are loyal to the state and possibly not the house (Black Dragon Society is a fairly good example). I have not decided what I want to do with the old categories yet. We have enough characters from the main 5 houses obviously but how do we handle some of the larger more powerful "lesser" houses like House Sorenson or House Sandoval? I am thinking to just make the change over to State based categories for the sake of simplicity.--Dmon (talk) 19:10, 13 June 2017 (EDT)
That's a good idea regarding loyalty. I was thinking of just keeping the five main Houses really, but if a minor House gets enough characters to warrant it then it might be useful. - Dark Jaguar (talk) 19:18, 13 June 2017 (EDT)
Trust me, if the next stage of my project charting the various noble titles and linked families carries on we might end up spawning a whole bunch of new cats. It has bugged me the entire time I have played BT that the Neo-Feudalism is largely ignored beyond an aesthetic, I am slowly starting to make headway on being able to add in a lot more info on that as my next stage.
