Image Upload problems[edit]

Hi Nic, there seems to be a problem with image upload that coincides with the migration to a new server. Check the Gallery of New Files (in the Special Pages section), and you'll see that the last successful upload was on 17 December. The next images, starting with 24 December uploads, all produce an error message. Frabby (talk) 14:59, 1 January 2013 (PST)

Thanks for pointing that out, fixed it! Nicjansma (talk) 21:24, 1 January 2013 (PST)

Poznan/Unit registration[edit]

Hi Nicjansma, i would like to enter a registry of my unit on SARNA. But i dont have the knowlage to do so can i give you guys the history that we created? pls contact me

Hy WDraco, please keep in mind, sarna is a canon wiki, not a fanon wiki.--Doneve (talk) 08:53, 19 February 2013 (PST)
I understand anyways there is a lack of history concerning Poznan Planet, and we would like to contribute, all the history is correct with the events that happened in Poznan, we only introduced our unit as one of the rebel units.
I can post here the history we have for your view and aproval or not.
Hi WDraco, to elaborate on Doneve's point: Sarna BTW's policy is to not include original material. A detailed writeup on the history of Poznan (with references to the sources) would be welcome; but a fan-created unit does not belong here, but on the BattleTech Fanon Wiki. This is not a matter of approval, it's a question of Sarna BTW's scope. See Policy:Canon for details. Frabby (talk) 09:54, 19 February 2013 (PST)

ok, and thx on your work and fast reply.

I don't know if this helps, but there is a BattleTech Fanon Wiki which would be a great place to record your unit. BrokenMnemonic (talk) 12:03, 19 February 2013 (PST)

Contact[edit]

Hi Nic, The contact form on your site seems to be broken--it won't "send" the message. I'm trying to get in touch about writing for Sarna. Thanks.— The preceding unsigned comment was posted by Cubby (talkcontribs) .

Hi Cubby. It seems to work when I try, what's the error message? Feel free to email me at nic at nicj dot net Nicjansma (talk) 13:27, 16 March 2013 (PDT)

Page width?[edit]

Hi Nic,

a change of some sort was obvious implemented in mid-June 2013 that resulted in page content (text, boxes, etc.) not going across the entire page width anymore. To my laymay eyes it looks as if there's a big section on the right-hand screen reserved for ads, only it's empty (as a registered user I get ad-free Sarna; I'm using the Liao skin). This format with a big empty section on the screen is a tad bit annoying. Can this be fixed? Frabby (talk) 01:40, 1 July 2013 (PDT)

Sorry about that! Forgot about how it'd look with ads turned off. Should be fixed, let me know. Nicjansma (talk) 09:12, 1 July 2013 (PDT)
Everything's peachy now. Thanks Nic! Frabby (talk) 10:13, 1 July 2013 (PDT)
Thanks for fixing this, i had the same problem.--Doneve (talk) 10:31, 1 July 2013 (PDT)

Massive Login Problem[edit]

Hy Nic, i notice a massive login problem, every day 2-5 hours i cant login, i become the message i disabled the cookies and cant log in, but i don't do this, my system and browser is up to date and my security software, this is very strange, is this a server problem or or....hmm the NSA watch us ;).--17:22, 18 July 2013 (PDT) [Doneve]

Hey Doneve. I've been having problems with the server a bit, working through them now. Sorry for the issues! Nicjansma (talk) 07:31, 19 July 2013 (PDT)

Sidebar[edit]

Hello Nic, where you so cool and update the minor update or primary update page for some changes, thanks.--Doneve (talk) 20:30, 24 July 2013 (PDT)

Typo[edit]

Not to just bother you, because this is extremely minor, but there is no space between two sentences on the preferences page under "e-mail options", and it is bugging me:

Sarna.net Design Refresh Comments[edit]

(Leave your comments here)

  • I care for content more than for fancy presentation. The change is a slight improvement in my book, nothing substantial in my eyes but there's certainly nothing wrong with it.
Given that Sarna is mostly perceived as the BT wiki these days, it's a bit odd that wiki isn't the first item in the navigation bar - and the "Sarna.net >>" link goes straigth to the wiki and not to some top level directory. My suggested order of items would therefore be wiki, news, forum, downloads and it goes without saying that the downloads section needs a massive cleanup. You might want to ask Catalyst if they'd allow you to host certain files that used to be free downloads from previous iterations of the official BT page: the House Books, Lawyers, Guns, & Money, also important fan work such as Objective Raids: 3067, etc.
Finally, I note that the ad sections are back even for registered user accounts. They are a bit annoying once you get used to working on a screen without ad bars... Frabby (talk) 14:51, 5 August 2013 (PDT)
Thanks for your feedback Frabby. There will be a new landing page for the "Sarna.net >> link". While Sarna is currently known for the wiki, the News section is new and I want to promote it. I will be updating the downloads section a bit after the design refresh. And not to worry, the ads will be hidden when the updated look goes live if you're using the NoAds skin. Nicjansma (talk) 15:05, 5 August 2013 (PDT)

  • Having worked with the new design for some time, I'm liking it. I especially like the new logo, it's very good. But one thing is bugging me: When browsing Sarna with my smartphone, the screen structure is a bit weird - I don't get the screen sections side-by-side like on my desktop screen, I get them underneath each other in a rather strange order. In particular, the Search box is in a counter-intuitive location near the bottom where it is difficult to find and impractical to use. Can this somehow be moved to the very top? Frabby (talk) 07:00, 14 August 2013 (PDT)
Thanks, I'm glad you like it. The interface you're seeing on your smartphone is what we're calling responsive design in the web-design world. Basically, instead of creating a completely separate desktop webpage vs. a mobile webpage (where the user interface should change to make browsing easier on a smaller screen), the design adapts as the page is resized. You can see this if you take your desktop and shrink the width -- at a certain point, the interface switches to tablet then to mobile phone mode. I think overall, this will be much easier for folks to browse with than the dedicated mobile site, which sacrifices a lot of the UI. The search box is intentionally moved to the bottom after the main content, but I could consider moving it back up above as well. Nicjansma (talk) 07:41, 19 August 2013 (PDT)

  • Addendum, I found that I can only browse the wiki on my smartphone, but not edit - the button row is simply gone! Frabby (talk) 01:49, 15 August 2013 (PDT)
There was previously a little "drop-down" sign in the upper-right corner that you could select to show the list of "page, discussion, edit, history, etc". But apparently I broke that functionality on accident, and it wasn't very discoverable. I've fixed it, and added the current page type (eg, page or discussion) so it's more obvious that you can click on it. Nicjansma (talk) 07:41, 19 August 2013 (PDT)

  • I've tired using the new layout here and at work, and it looks a bit odd at times. In some pages it's fine, but when I look at the front page and article pages, about a quarter of the screen on the right is white space. That may be a setting that I've missed somewhere in my preferences. When I use the history section of an article to review changes that've been made, I'm getting the same problem, except that the text isn't formatting correctly - it's being truncated on the right hnd side. BrokenMnemonic (talk) 09:08, 6 August 2013 (PDT)
What browser are you using? Any chance you can email me a screen shot? nic at nicj dot net. Nicjansma (talk) 10:11, 6 August 2013 (PDT)
I've sent an email with a couple of screenshots in - I'm using Firefox build 22.0. BrokenMnemonic (talk) 10:48, 6 August 2013 (PDT)
Wonderful, that helped a ton. I believe I've fixed this issue -- let me know if not. Nicjansma (talk) 08:00, 7 August 2013 (PDT)
I've been poking around various areas I don't use much on the wiki to test, and at the moment the new layout seems to be working for me, although I've not yet tried it on my BlackBerry. The font's nicely legible, although I've noticed that the larger font has made some of the table-based articles a little busier. The List of BattleTech products is one such - the font's big enough that some columns where entries fit neatly on one line now end up running to two, which means less information is available per screen. That's not a big issue, but it is a little annoying on that particular screen if I'm scrolling up and down looking for something.
Thanks for looking for pages that have problems, that does help. I agree, some of the pages have needed small layout changes due to the larger font size. I've been working on them as I see them. For example, we could change the built-in table column widths of 500px,180px and 210px to something a bit larger for the List of BattleTech products. Nicjansma (talk) 07:47, 19 August 2013 (PDT)
One thing I'd prefer to be able to change if possible is the page tab marker in Firefox. I worked out by using one of the accessibility magnifiers that the page tab marker is the Atlas from the main logo over the word SARNA in tiny font - however, most of the time when I'm working at home on a larger screen size it's basically just a black on dark grey splodge to my eyes. The big yellow S was much more recogniseable for me, and made it much easier to find the tab I wanted quickly. I typically have 12-14 tabs open at once (when I'm at home, I'm often editing on two tabs in Sarna at once, plus I'll have 3 tabs open for the Arkham Horror play by forum game I'm running, another for the CGL forum, one for LiveJournal, one for the Arkham Wiki, and so on) and at the moment it's taking me noticeably longer to find the Sarna tabs. BrokenMnemonic (talk) 07:20, 14 August 2013 (PDT)
Thanks for pointing that out, I hadn't realized it looked like that on Firefox. I've updated the logo to remove the SARNA text, so it just shows the Atlas. This should be much more recognizable, do you agree? Nicjansma (talk) 07:47, 19 August 2013 (PDT)
I'm sorry it took me a week to respond - I didn't want to clear out my cache to be able to view the new page headers, but I kept forgetting to look on my netbook. Since then, it's updated everywhere, so I'm not seeing just the Atlas. I definitely think it's more recogniseable - I have a few problems on my PC though, because the FireFox skin I use is quite dark (it's got planets and stars and the like on it) so like some other tab markers, it's not very clear. Would it be possible to put a lighter coloured flash around the Atlas silhouette, rather than having just a transparent background? Something to create a visual contrast against both light and dark backgrounds. I use BoardGameGeek a lot, and on Firefox they do exactly the sort of thing I'm thinking of - the central logo is the geek in an orange circle with a black border, but around the black circular border is a small white flash, which makes it show up against Firefox tabs nicely. BrokenMnemonic (talk) 09:47, 26 August 2013 (PDT)
I've just switched over to using the Marik skin (I was using the Steiner on before, but the contrast in colours wasn't quite strong enough for me under the new layout) and I've spotted a minor problem with the setup of the skin. When looking at a page that has an infobox that includes secondary headers, the secondary header title text is showing up as white on a pale purple background - which makes it illegible to me. An example is if you look at the Picaroon page - the "Technical Specifications" subtitle in the infobox is showing up as white on pale purple. Is there anything that can be done to fix that? BrokenMnemonic (talk) 01:06, 30 August 2013 (PDT)
Great catch, I've updated the color. Nicjansma (talk) 07:17, 30 August 2013 (PDT)

  • Oh another problem, i use also the marik skin, but i miss the link for the sandbox in main BTWiki bar, is this a skin problem, i think not the sanbox is gone?--Doneve (talk) 19:45, 30 August 2013 (PDT)
The link to the Sandbox was removed because it was only being used a couple times a year. You can always just go to it directly though. Another option is to use a custom sandbox under your user page, for example Doneve's sandbox. Nicjansma (talk) 08:14, 1 September 2013 (PDT)

  • Personally I don't like the new layout much; plus, in Firefox (which is all that I use) the font is messed up and looks constantly bolded and is much too large. Therefore, if you do change it for everyone, I suggest that you leave an old version for us editors to use if we want. That is my two cents. -BobTheZombie (talk) 10:55, 6 August 2013 (PDT)
Can you say what you don't like about it specifically? What OS / browser are you using? The font looks fine for me on the latest Firefox, IE and Chrome on Windows 7... a screenshot showing the problem would be wonderful! Nicjansma (talk) 16:19, 6 August 2013 (PDT)
The screenshot was very helpful. I believe I've fixed this issue as well, let me know if not. Nicjansma (talk) 08:00, 7 August 2013 (PDT)
Note, for those of you seeing the font all-bold, check out this fix for FireFox, which helped BobTheZombie Nicjansma (talk) 06:39, 11 August 2013 (PDT)

  • I tested the new layout and i have no problems what BM talk from, but i don't use it, i use the marik skin with CSS preferences.--Doneve (talk) 12:25, 6 August 2013 (PDT)
The house-skins will change to look like the new layout, but the color overrides will be similar. Nicjansma (talk) 16:19, 6 August 2013 (PDT)
The house skins should be updated with the new look. Nicjansma (talk) 20:22, 10 August 2013 (PDT)

  • Hy Nic i appreciate your sarna refresh, but can you change the font size and the font Open Sans to another for the various house skins, it looks not so good for me and i think you become more messages about this, i don't like it, but this is my opinion, you want feedback you become feedback, and i notice some a broken table, please take a look on the Port Arthur page, the table on the left side is not closed and on other tables the same problem.--Doneve (talk) 18:36, 10 August 2013 (PDT)
Hi Doneve. The new font and font sizes were conscious decisions to make the page easier to read for everyone in general. I'm sure everyone has their own preferences for fonts and font sizes, so I can't provide a custom skin for everyone's preference. I'm not currently seeing a problem with the table on the Port Arthur page. I was in the middle of making several changes while you were online, can you reload to see if the problem goes away? If not, please email me a screenshot showing me what you're seeing. Nicjansma (talk) 20:22, 10 August 2013 (PDT)
Thanks for response, the table problem is gone, and i must life with the new layout, no doubt, iam here :).--Doneve (talk) 20:42, 10 August 2013 (PDT)
Good to hear! One option that you could do, if you want to see a smaller font, is to use the Firefox Greasemonkey addon, which lets you insert your own personal CSS in any domain you visit. Thanks for your feedback! Nicjansma (talk) 20:46, 10 August 2013 (PDT)
Thanks Nic for the addon help, it works :), oh and i like the new design more and more.--Doneve (talk) 09:53, 11 August 2013 (PDT)

  • Is there way for me to be able to login and have change the skin back to the old one? No offense, but i'm using a older computer and its kinda pain on it. -- Wrangler (talk) 05:29, 11 August 2013 (PDT)
Are there specific things that you don't like about the new look? Can you send me a screenshot, and which OS/browser you're using to show the things that don't work? I'd rather fix the issue for everyone than have to maintain the older skin. Nicjansma (talk) 06:39, 11 August 2013 (PDT)
Its mainly I'm XP user, i'm not planning replace it anytime soon. I've found that this type of interface is rather..challenging memorywise to the older ad-free skin. I'm not against swanky looks, its function for me. Wikipedia next-generation skin is similarly do the same thing to me. -- Wrangler (talk) 08:53, 11 August 2013 (PDT)

  • Hi Nic, i noticed something. With way this new adsense type skin works. Any files that i have an option of watching, aren't being being highlighted/shown in bold. -- Wrangler (talk) 05:40, 11 August 2013 (PDT)
I believe I've fixed this. Note, you don't have to use the SarnaAdSense skin, you can use just the plain Sarna skin (which doesn't have ads) or any of the house skins (all of which don't have ads) Nicjansma (talk) 06:39, 11 August 2013 (PDT)
I'll try, try switching to the other Sarna skin. This the original isn't it? -- Wrangler (talk) 08:54, 11 August 2013 (PDT)
I've tried both, I guess its newer interface you switch too. You have to do what you have to do. I'll have try keep going till my browers can't handle it anymore. I've used Chrome too and frankly i don't like it either. I know this is done of Touchscreen interfaces, but it makes it hell on wheels for me. Sorry to trouble you, Nic. -- Wrangler (talk) 08:59, 11 August 2013 (PDT)

  • Hello Nic, overall I like the new scheme, it seems cleaner and a bit more professional. The only issue I have noticed so far is that the BattleMech Portal section isn't framed correctly and the page cuts off the sides causing a horizontal slider bar to be generated. Previously I have visited this page and this was not the case under the old look (I am using a widescreen monitor, so width and aspect ratio of my equipment is not to blame here). Otherwise, I like what you have done. -- MadMechanic
Thanks MadMechanic, I've updated the BattleMech Portal a bit to be more responsive with the new design.

  • Hi just thought I'd chime in too. Personally, I really like the new look of the wiki. Been using Sarna for little over a year I think. The old one was fine too, but as said before, this one looks more professional. For some reason it reminds me of the NGNG and MechSpecs sites. No idea if that's intended or not. Anyway, my only gripes with the new site are that articles don't fill the page width. This seems to be corrected when you make the window smaller (Nice touch btw, if intentional) My only other dislike is that the global font is quite large. Other than that, really love the new refreshed look. Keep it up! -- Mordynak (talk) 06:11, 13 August 2013 (PDT)
Hi Mordynak, thanks for the input! We're using the same font (Open Sans) that NGNG is, and the overall design is "flatter", which is the direction web design is going lately. The articles should fill the whole width! What browser and OS are you using? Can you send me a screenshot of what you see? Yes, I spent quite a bit of time making smaller-screens work better -- the whole interface should 'collapse' a bit as you shrink the browser width. This is to make it work better on tablets and phones. I put a lot of time into making that work, I hope it's useful for people browsing on phones. Appreciate the feedback! Nicjansma (talk) 06:28, 13 August 2013 (PDT)
Hi again, was literally just taking a screenshot or two for you to see. Using Win7 and Firefox, latest version. http://i.imgur.com/3mZ06eV.jpg?1 and a second image a little wider. http://i.imgur.com/BJLgKA2.png?1 imgur chose the formats btw.... As you can see, the actual content resizes, but the blank space doesn't. This only seems to affect articles and not editing pages such as this one. Hope this helps! -- Mordynak (talk) 07:58, 13 August 2013 (PDT)
Hy Mordynak, have you tested this with the various house skins in your preferences, i have no problems, i use Win8 and Firefox, but i use in my marik house skin CSS prefs.--Doneve (talk) 08:17, 13 August 2013 (PDT)
Ahh I see, cheers Doneve. I wasn't aware there were different skins. That said however, the problem still exists in the default skin. All other skins appear to be unaffected. -- Mordynak (talk) 08:26, 13 August 2013 (PDT)
Thanks Mordynak! Are you using an ad-blocker? That's where ads go with the default 'Sarna' skin :) . You can choose the 'SarnaNoAds' skin to get the same color scheme, without any ads (and the content fits the whole width). The house skins all have no ads either. Nicjansma (talk) 08:50, 13 August 2013 (PDT)
Ahh that'll be it then, I use AdBlock Plus so that'll be why. As before, my only other complaint is the text size, but its no biggie. Again, keep up the great work! -- Mordynak (talk) 11:08, 13 August 2013 (PDT)
Yeah the text is definitely bigger, but I hope that over time folks will get used to it. I personally think it's a lot more legible and readable than the old, smaller font. You can see my tips to Doneve above for how to force a smaller font for just Sarna if you want. Nicjansma (talk) 14:55, 13 August 2013 (PDT)

  • Hello, again Nicjansma. I'd like as again if you could rethink of resizing the font to smaller size than it is right now. I'm finding many of the info boxes are becoming jumbled because their words are too big for them. Is there like middle size that would be acceptable? -- Wrangler (talk) 20:04, 30 August 2013 (PDT)
The larger font size was a conscientious decision to make the page easier to read in general, and consistent with the other parts of the site (news, forums, downloads). If there are specific pages or info boxes that haven't become harder to read with the larger font size, I'd prefer to update their look directly. We could increase their width, remove padding, etc. Can you show me examples of pages that you think are harder to read? Nicjansma (talk) 08:14, 1 September 2013 (PDT)

  • Text is a bit blurred for no apparent reason...I suppose it works alright. Porty1119 (talk)
It shouldn't be blurred at all. What OS and browser? Can you send me a screenshot? Nicjansma (talk) 08:14, 1 September 2013 (PDT)

Year pages[edit]

Hy Nic, when i look on the year pages, the Era ex. year box is not in center of the page, the box is floated to the left side, take a look here 3055, can you take a look on this, when its needed i send you a screen shoot.--Doneve (talk) 11:07, 17 August 2013 (PDT)

I'm unsure why it was centered before and now isn't, so I added a div text-align wrapper around the box to ensure it is. Nicjansma (talk) 07:55, 19 August 2013 (PDT)
Thanks for fix this.--Doneve (talk) 07:57, 19 August 2013 (PDT)

searching Sarna.net[edit]

I surf with Chrome and I had a rather happy accident the other day. I started typing "sarna.net" into the address bar, got half way, hit TAB and the address bar became a search bar. Cool! Is this something that you guys did or is this something I did on my system?--Grimlock (talk) 07:04, 20 August 2013 (PDT)

There is some code that helps integrate Sarna's search into the browser's bar, but that should have been working for a while. Glad you found it! Nicjansma (talk) 07:11, 20 August 2013 (PDT)

Vehicles and Aerospace Fighter Timetable[edit]

Hy Nic, i hope you can help me. I want to create a Vehicles and Aerospce Fighter Timetable like this BattleMech Timetable, i see the description on the 'Mech Timetable, but i need how i use this on the vehicles and aerospace fighter pages, iam a little bit a codeing nob, can you take a look please when you have time, and talk to me how i can create and handle this and the semantic wiki stuff, thanks. And a nother think is i want to add some variants with intro dates to the 'Mech Timetable but this was stop, please take a look on this talk User talk:Seth#BattleMech model pages, i hope i dont overhelm you with this questions, but you are the father of sarna and i want some new input how we hanlde this.--Doneve (talk) 19:58, 20 August 2013 (PDT)

Hy again, no more help needed, now i know how i use the semenatic stuff to create timetables.--Doneve (talk) 09:29, 21 August 2013 (PDT)

????[edit]

Hy Nic, why changed the colour on some blue links to grey when i click on this. As Example i sent you a sreenshot, tested with IE, Chrome and Firefox. File:Doneve Test.jpg, oh and please delete the image when you have revied.--Doneve (talk) 08:41, 26 August 2013 (PDT)

I think what's happening is that links you haven't clicked on are in blue, but links that you've viewed in the past are showing up in grey... BrokenMnemonic (talk) 09:42, 26 August 2013 (PDT)
Yeah i know but yesterday i dont had this problem.--Doneve (talk) 12:00, 26 August 2013 (PDT)
I've changed the "visited" color for links from purple to gray to be consistent across the wiki, news, forums and downloads. I'm still playing around with the colors. I may change it back to purple or to something else. Nicjansma (talk) 12:17, 26 August 2013 (PDT)
Thanks, it makes a little difficult with the grey color to found links.--Doneve (talk) 12:34, 26 August 2013 (PDT)
Yes, I also would much prefer the purple than the grey link color... -BobTheZombie (talk) 13:26, 26 August 2013 (PDT)
OK, I've gone back to a purple. Nicjansma (talk) 20:04, 26 August 2013 (PDT)
Thanks, this look much better as the grey.--Doneve (talk) 23:24, 26 August 2013 (PDT)
Yes, I like it much more now; thanks... -BobTheZombie (talk) 04:51, 28 August 2013 (PDT)
I agree with my fellow editors, Nic. Thank you for reverting back to purpose. New colors are nice, but gray makes it little invisable. -- Wrangler (talk) 20:02, 30 August 2013 (PDT)
Sorry about the change, and thanks for the feedback. I agree with all of you. Nicjansma (talk) 08:14, 1 September 2013 (PDT)

BattleTech Project[edit]

I was advised to inform you, in case of your interest or whatnot, in an independent project I started and have been working on for the past few days. I posted a link on reddit, found link here which was what originally drew interest and someone pointed me to you. In short, its a web-based, interactive map (presently) displaying the ownership of every planet (that I have data for [the current version uses ISCS, but I'm reaching out to other -apparently better- sources for map coords and whatnot]) and its location in the BT universe. I'm also working on some interesting / useful pieces of functionality to click on / mouse over each planet and get information/description for that planet and the planets within jump distance of that planet. Broken Link[edit]

I noticed that the MUX link on the left navigation bar is broken and links to a deleted page, so the link on the side should also be removed. -BobTheZombie (talk) 21:33, 6 October 2013 (PDT)

  • I hope to create a small page that talks about the old-school (and current) MUX/MUSEs soon. Nicjansma (talk) 13:54, 16 October 2013 (PDT)

Layout[edit]

Hy Nic i copyied this talk from Mbears talk page, please give us a statement about the new layout on the various Combat Vehicle pages, if it works or not or ideas.

Hi Mbear, can you take a look on the Heimdall (Combat Vehicle) page i changed the headers a little bit, my feeling is it looks much better and has a cleaner overview as our standard formating, what do you think? Ok iam be bold the new layout looks great, if it not become acceptance i revert me changes.--Doneve (talk) 16:48, 29 October 2013 (PDT)

I for one don't like the new layout, because it makes the headings as big as the title, which just looks wrong to me. Additionally, Wikipedia uses the two == layout and it works quite well. That's just my opinion; we need more people to chime in. -BobTheZombie (talk) 20:06, 29 October 2013 (PDT)
There is no problem, we can change the headings size for the new layout, but a admin must do this, oh Bob the arcticle name size and the new heading size is the same, or iam wrong? I think not.--Doneve (talk) 20:32, 29 October 2013 (PDT)
If you look on Wikipedia, you'll see that section headings have a hairline that covers the width of the page. I do think it makes the article more readable. Any thoughts on adopting this here? --Scaletail (talk) 20:09, 30 October 2013 (PDT)
I would prefer to keep the previous layout, where two equals (==) are used for headings. This corresponds with an H2 HTML tag. One equal (=) is a H1 HTML tag, which should be reserved for the page title. Nicjansma (talk) 08:15, 7 November 2013 (PST)
Ok, Mbear give me a CSS code and it works then i have the layout i want.--Doneve (talk) 14:44, 7 November 2013 (PST)
Nic, it's not about using H1s instead of H2s, it's about changing what H2s look like. Rather than just being an underline, the Wikipedia formatting uses a hairline that runs the width of the page. I think it increases readability. --Scaletail (talk) 18:33, 7 November 2013 (PST)
But we still need to revert all those back that were changed, quiaff? -BobTheZombie (talk) 19:16, 7 November 2013 (PST)
Work in progress, quiaff!--Doneve (talk) 19:36, 8 November 2013 (PST)19:29, 8 November 2013 (PST)
My apologies, good sir, I put that up just before you were working on it and didn't remove it in time! -BobTheZombie (talk) 09:08, 9 November 2013 (PST)
Oh sure - we can make H2s have a bottom border instead of being underlined. I like it too, I've made the change. Nicjansma (talk) 14:45, 12 November 2013 (PST)
I like it! -BobTheZombie (talk) 14:55, 12 November 2013 (PST)
Me to, then i can remove my CSS code.--Doneve (talk) 14:58, 12 November 2013 (PST)

Nic, i found one problem, when you look on any planet page the major page name has the same size as the sections, can you look in.--Doneve (talk) 15:06, 12 November 2013 (PST)

Technically, they're slightly different. The page name is H1, which is 24px. The sections are H2s, at 20px. For reference, Wikipedia's H1 is slightly larger at 26px and their H2 is 20px. I could bump our H1 up to 26px to make it just slightly more different than H2? Nicjansma (talk) 22:29, 12 November 2013 (PST)
I think that that would help a lot, Nic. -BobTheZombie (talk) 04:48, 13 November 2013 (PST)
H1 has been increased to 26px. Nicjansma (talk) 08:01, 13 November 2013 (PST)
Now that looks a little better. -BobTheZombie (talk) 16:55, 13 November 2013 (PST)

BrokenMnemonic[edit]

Hy Nic, hops you enjoy the next, i know its not familar, but i feel BrokenMnemoic must become a admin status, i know we lost Ebakunin and some others, but BM is my first new to talk to you.--Doneve (talk) 01:08, 31 December 2013 (PST)
