Nomination.[edit]

Hey PS, I have nominated you for an award in the 2019 Founder's Awards for your work on the wiki last year but only as an honorable mention. This year I am actively choosing not to nominate any of the "old guard" who have been here for years in hopes that a show of appreciation for newer editors will spur them on. I know time in service wise you are not one of the "old guard" but with your output I think you are well and truly invested in the wiki. Do not worry, I still love you and what you do! Wink.gif Dmon (talk) 09:49, 16 February 2020 (EST)

Thanks!--Pserratv (talk) 04:07, 18 February 2020 (EST)
You've made some amazing contributions since you've joined Pserratv! Nicjansma (talk) 21:07, 7 July 2020 (EDT)
Many thanks Nic, I really love this wiki--Pserratv (talk) 03:56, 8 July 2020 (EDT)

Steel Brothers timeline[edit]

Saw that you pinpointed the year fir the Steel Brothers merc unit to 3020. Where's that info from? All source material I know is without timestamp, so it could really be almost any year. Frabby (talk) 14:57, 21 February 2020 (EST)

It is a hint. It says in the description: "At an unspecified point in time, implied to be sometime in the late Succession Wars era (prior to the Duchy of Andurien's secession from the Free Worlds League after the Fourth Succession War and implicitly also prior to the signing of the Concord of Kapteyn), the Steel Brothers were employed by the Duchy of Andurien for border security and special operations, where they saw combat against pirate forces at least once." amd as the Concord of Kapteyn is from 3021, I selected 3020, but it is true it is not 100% confirmed.--Pserratv (talk) 17:43, 21 February 2020 (EST)

InfoBoxMilitaryCommand[edit]

Hi PS, just wanted to let you know that the use of two older templates Template:InfoBoxMercUnit and Template:InfoBoxStateUnit is deprecated. We intend to fold these into Template:InfoBoxMilitaryCommand, and only the latter template should be used for new articles. (Older articles will be updated eventually, and the old templates will be phased out.) Frabby (talk) 04:53, 3 April 2020 (EDT)

OK, once confirmed I might take this as a project to do by myself :).--Pserratv (talk) 05:43, 3 April 2020 (EDT)
Cough cough Red Brigade‎... :) Frabby (talk) 15:57, 7 May 2020 (EDT)
I'm getting old... fixed :)--Pserratv (talk) 05:12, 8 May 2020 (EDT)

Heart of Stone[edit]

Hi Pere, me again. :) I was wondering about your new article, Heart of Stone (Individual JumpShip). You've created an article Heart of Stone before - apparently describing the same vessel, but as a DropShip. If you aren't sure then that's what the article should say. Don't make things up. ;) Frabby (talk) 14:57, 6 April 2020 (EDT)

there are two, with same name, ona a dropship and another a jumpship... it can be a mistake in thd 3135PDA Journal, but types are different Pserratv (talk) 15:29, 6 April 2020 (EDT)
Ah yes, I see that now. The vessel is described as a DropShip in the first epigraph and then consistently as a JumpShip in the next four. I think the first is in error; but it's technically also possible that these are two ships. There should be cross references in the articles though. Frabby (talk) 15:50, 6 April 2020 (EDT)
I'll do that tomorrow, with a laptop and not by phon2.
Done (correctly I hope).--Pserratv (talk) 03:40, 7 April 2020 (EDT)

Old weapons stuff[edit]

Hey PS, saw you started recreating some of PerkinsC's old super super complicated weapons article work, and adding categories to weapon brands. A lot of Perkins stuff was very much categories for the sake of having categories and to make it worse a lot of his weapons work was based on spreadsheets of his own creation trying to create a unified weapons rules and stats system between all weapons. This stuff dates back to before the wiki had a lot of its current guidelines and standards, and as such be very careful with it because things although usually statistically correct, might be presented in a way that is not exactly true to lore.--Dmon (talk) 06:42, 14 April 2020 (EDT)

I've been trying to reduce the number of Uncategorized pages and Uncategorized categories, and this might be the root cause of the issue. If we feel some of those things should be deleted, we should do that, otherwise zealots of order like me end up messing things up.--Pserratv (talk) 06:51, 14 April 2020 (EDT)

InfoBox update[edit]

Hey PS,

Just a heads up, I have updated the Character infobox to include rank and title in order to add flexability. I have no intention of going through all the character articles to update them, but for the future if you could include the new box in newly created/updated aticles it would be good.--Dmon (talk) 08:12, 16 April 2020 (EDT)

Good to know. Indeed I'm going to create a new character soon. Updating all characters is the kind of patience project I might take :).--Pserratv (talk) 08:16, 16 April 2020 (EDT)
I intend to push for the updated commands box to go live soon as well, When it does I will do my best to hammer through the Merc commands and then leave it as a similar patience project. I think three patience projects (character infobox, commands infobox, systems) and my Houses/titles project is likely enough to keep me in work for the rest of the year!--Dmon (talk) 08:25, 16 April 2020 (EDT)
And maybe eve more :)--Pserratv (talk) 08:32, 16 April 2020 (EDT)

Scenario Pack: The Battle of Addicks[edit]

Hi PS,

in the Jackson Tetsuhara article you're quoting a Scenario Pack: The Battle of Addicks for some information. However, it does not show up in the Bibliography section and I couldn't find such a product anywhere. Can you elaborate on this source please? Frabby (talk) 05:25, 22 April 2020 (EDT)

This link appears in Katana's Tormak profile also, I used the links as informationi. I feel this is one of the Dark Age scenarios that were created for the Dark Age miniature game. I'll have to check.

Indeed I found this on User talk:Akashi:
++++++++
Hy, is [Scenario Pack: The Battle of Addicks] a canon source or fanon? I can't found any info from the scenario pack, can you help me, thanks.--Doneve (talk) 12:39, 17 April 2013 (PDT)

It looks canon to me - this is where I stumbled over it, pure coincidence and a lucky hit on google: http://sarna.s3.amazonaws.com/docs/products/mwda/scenarios/addicks.pdf
Apparently the document was also available on the WizKids website for some time, but is not anymore.
The conflict itself is referenced in some dossiers such as Death from Above 13 as well as the backup site for WizKids INN articles. Please let me know if there are any problems with these sources! --Akashi (talk) 13:38, 17 April 2013 (PDT)

++++++++
--Pserratv (talk) 07:39, 22 April 2020 (EDT)

According to my inquiry over at the BattleTech forum The Battle of Addicks was the first of the MWDA monthly events, and not a physical or digital product beyond possibly some background info on the WK homepage that seems to have been lost. :( As such, I don't think it's a viable source as it can't be accessed or verified anymore, at least until the webpage can be dragged from the grave. Frabby (talk) 00:53, 27 April 2020 (EDT)
OK, I'll check the two books to see if they gave information on the katana and the mech and delete the references in all articles.--Pserratv (talk) 05:40, 27 April 2020 (EDT)
Addendum: In the forum thread linked above, Mendrugo found the connected scenarios... in the Sarna download section. Not sure why Akashi's link didn't work for me. In any case, the "product" is there. All good. (Need to draw up article.) Frabby (talk) 04:21, 28 April 2020 (EDT)
Can you find them? I would like to see them :)--Pserratv (talk) 04:22, 28 April 2020 (EDT)

In-Universe Fiction[edit]

Hi Pserratv. I wanted to suggest something. I'm adding category "Category:In-Universe Media" to anything that was made/written in universe. I think adding Media as category would confuse things up since Media is basically pertains to real world game items. I'd hate to see if people reading sarna thought the a book written in-universe was a REAL book for example. Do you think you could add the In-Universe Media category instead of the media? -- Wrangler (talk) 08:33, 22 June 2020 (EDT)

Yes, I'll quickly rearrange the existing ones and change my link to use it for new entries.--Pserratv (talk) 08:34, 22 June 2020 (EDT)
Thanks!! -- Wrangler (talk) 10:13, 22 June 2020 (EDT)
Done. Maybe we should delete their links to Media and keep them only as In-Universe Media as you proposed.--Pserratv (talk) 10:31, 22 June 2020 (EDT)

Lawyers, Guns, & Money[edit]

Appreciate the work you put into this. However, your copypasta summary text for the character articles seems to contain an error: The Colossus was not "pristine", far from it in fact - they restored it to flight status but it's a miracle they managed the feat. Frabby (talk) 14:43, 20 August 2020 (EDT)

Just saw it is considered battle scarred... I'll have to amend them all. Time. I'll try to do it today.--Pserratv (talk) 14:47, 20 August 2020 (EDT)

Operation Higashikuni (Canon Event)[edit]

It's unclear what your intent is in creating Operation Higashikuni (Canon Event) when Operation Higashikuni already exists. Can you weigh in on Talk:Operation Higashikuni (Canon Event) with your thoughts on why two separate articles are warranted? Tosta Dojen (talk) 19:56, 7 September 2020 (EDT)

  • Done. Now let's continue on there :)--Pserratv (talk) 04:05, 8 September 2020 (EDT)

2011 (Policy:Year Pages)[edit]

I've reversed most of your recent edit to 2011, on the basis of these statements from Policy:Year Pages:

  • "Each entry should have only one wikilink, leading to an article that will provide the details of the event." I removed the second wikilink that was added.
  • "Conflicts (formerly Battles): events that involve violence as their central occurrence, in whatever form that may take: campaigns, skirmishes, two-person altercations, assassinations, raids, civilian riots, invasions, genocide, wars, etc." Assassination is expressly listed, so I moved Oleg Tikonov's assassination back into the "Conflicts" section.

I'm slowly working on a comprehensive review of year pages to align them with the applicable policy, so if I've missed anything here, please let me know! Tosta Dojen (talk) 14:55, 14 September 2020 (EDT)

Didn't know this detail on these two points of the policy. You have a lot of work then on this, as I've seen several Year pages not following this policies.--Pserratv (talk) 04:12, 15 September 2020 (EDT)
Indeed, that's the very reason why I've embarked on a comprehensive review! Wink.gif Tosta Dojen (talk) 15:18, 18 September 2020 (EDT)

Shrapnel Issue 2[edit]

Hey Ps,

I am not sure if you backed the kickstarter but Shrapnel Issue 2 was released yesterday and it has quite a lot of Solaris VII stuff in it. I think you will enjoy it :-)--Dmon (talk) 07:40, 16 September 2020 (EDT)

No backer... will have to wait for a few days... but those are good news to hear!!--Pserratv (talk) 08:06, 16 September 2020 (EDT)

Katherine Wolf[edit]

I notice you've restored some references to Katherine Wolf as the daughter of Jaime Wolf and Marisha Dandridge. I had removed those because it seems to be an error. BTW's Jaime Wolf article cites Wolf Pack for its claims about Jaime's children. Wolf Pack features a woman named Katherine Wolf, but she's married to Jaime's son Mackenzie Wolf, which makes her Jaime's daughter-in-law, not his daughter. The only citation I see here doesn't support the claim, and I'm guessing the contributing editor misunderstood the relationships there.

Do you have a source that supports the existence of a Katherine who's the daughter of Jaime and Marisha? Tosta Dojen (talk) 09:35, 5 October 2020 (EDT)

No, but Jaime's article is still wrong as it says this Katrina is a daughter of Jaime and Marisha.--Pserratv (talk) 09:47, 5 October 2020 (EDT)
I didn't catch that one in my first pass. Without a primary source citation to support the existence of a daughter named Katherine, I'm going to remove those references again. I'll fix the erroneous claim in the Jaime Wolf article while I'm at it. Tosta Dojen (talk) 10:17, 5 October 2020 (EDT)
Ok. No problem.--Pserratv (talk) 11:24, 5 October 2020 (EDT)
