Classic BattleTech templates[edit]

I noticed that when you brought over the Classic BattleTech article, a lot of templates from Wikipedia came with it, which you subsequently removed from the article. Do you think we should keep them for future use, or simply delete them? --Scaletail 20:54, 3 July 2008 (CDT)

Sheer laziness on my part. I didn't have the time nor inclination to 'make' them work here. However, overall, I thought it worked for Wikipedia, so have no problems with it being here. Question is: with the matter for which those templates were built (i.e., wargames), do you see much need to spend the time building it here (for one...maybe a half-handful of articles)? --Revanche (talk|contribs) 21:01, 3 July 2008 (CDT)
I deleted all of them except Template:Tnavbar, as it seems to be useful, but I have no idea what for. --Scaletail 07:46, 4 July 2008 (CDT)

New template for Novels[edit]

Hello,

I was adding information about Way of the Clans and noticed that there was not a template that worked well for novels. I went ahead and wrote a framework for one which I'd like to submit as a general template. What's your take on it? Thanks for the help. --Ebakunin 21:17, 28 July 2008 (CDT)

I think that works very well. You have wikicoding skillz! I'd make the pic a bit more in keeping with the other gaming books size-wise, but...please...turn it into a template and let me know when done. I'll create a help article once you're done. Sorely need, thanks! --Revanche (talk|contribs) 13:50, 1 August 2008 (CDT)
Revanche, the template's done. You can see it here. Would you please add the following to common.css. Thanks a lot for the help. --Ebakunin 23:53, 1 August 2008 (CDT)
/*
===CSS for the Novel Info Box===
*/
table.infoBoxNovel {
  border: 1px solid #bdb76b;
  border-top: 0px;
  border-collapse: collapse;
  float: right;
  font: normal 11px Arial,sans-serif;
  margin: 0px 0px 10px 10px;
  width: 250px;
}
.infoBoxNovel th {
  border-bottom: 1px solid #bdb76b;
  padding: 4px;
  background-color: #eee8aa;
  text-align: left;
}
.infoBoxNovel td {
  padding: 4px;
}
Pshaw...you did all the work! I'll build the help article soon. --Revanche (talk|contribs) 23:56, 1 August 2008 (CDT)

Thanks for the warm welcome[edit]

Hi, thanks for the warm welcome. I look forward to contributing. Let me know if there's anything I can do (or if I screw up somehow :) ) ... regards .... JubalHarshaw 09:05, 18 August 2008 (CDT)

Not a problem. Looking over your 'resume' of similar wikis (and wikias), I'm even more appreciative of your arrival. Please, pick (or start) a project and kill it with fire! --Revanche (talk|contribs) 09:15, 18 August 2008 (CDT)

Character Lists[edit]

I'm not really sure what you're going for here with "Lists of characters continue to be utilized". If we create articles for characters and give them multiple categories, then what do we need the lists for? Do you just want to have this there as an alternative? --Scaletail 14:42, 18 August 2008 (CDT)

One, you're a proponent of lists. I see no reason why lists should be abolished, and as a Warden, you represent those people who will continue to create and use lists. Two, even if we were to abolish lists, what would we do if others created them? Become fanatical and strict in their erasure? I see lists as being valuable to highlighting certain articles (or aspects of those articles). For example, maybe in further research I'll find multiple mentions of the Universal Truth program. While there isn't that much to say about the program other than it discusses current events within the Inner Sphere, a list could be useful in expanding the article, by listing hosts and guests...even though they may all have individual articles. I just want to be sure we don't outlaw the creation of lists because an article on a person may already exist. Does that make sense?
Please, re-write the proposal how ever you wish. Please do. I just wanted to make sure your views were represented and not expunged because of a majority view of 2 editors versus 1. --Revanche (talk|contribs) 16:17, 18 August 2008 (CDT)
Just to be clear, are you referring to a list-article like Magistracy of Canopus/Minor Characters or lists within an article? Because, at this point, I feel like it's more of a style issue than a notability issue. --Scaletail 17:01, 18 August 2008 (CDT)
Point taken. As just demonstrated, I really don't have much background with the lists. I just want to see your views at least recognized. Feel free to re-write my proposal to reflect how you'd like to see lists utilized...or delete the proposal completely. --Revanche (talk|contribs) 17:04, 18 August 2008 (CDT)

Article ranking[edit]

Regarding a project for ranking articles ... something like this and this? I like the idea of finding quality articles first that could then be voted on for featured article status. I'll start giving this some thought for how we could implement something like it here, it's own project, I would assume. JubalHarshaw 08:48, 20 August 2008 (CDT)

Moratorium[edit]

I saw elsewhere that you mentioned the idea of a moratorium. I have been thinking that it might be a good idea to establish a policy that mandates a minimum amount of elapsed time on creating articles using information from new books, so I was wondering if you wanted to have that discussion somewhere. --Scaletail 19:28, 24 August 2008 (CDT)

Sure. Since it would be a policy, why not start one at Policy:Moratorium. I'm working on some changes to the main page right now, but once you've got it created, I'll add a link there. --Revanche (talk|contribs) 19:32, 24 August 2008 (CDT)

More quoting[edit]

Apparently a company is selling a bunch of figs on eBay and has decided that we're a good source of info. Check out two examples here and here. They were even kind enough to leave in the links. --Scaletail 15:13, 21 September 2008 (CDT)

So I'm New Here[edit]

Hey, I'm new. new to both battletech and here but I am trying to work things out. I have already posted a custom design; the Abomination, and an addendum to the Hellspawn article, is it OK to use made up personalities as notable pilots? Also I'd like to know what people think about Lv. 3 stuff such as Streak LRMs and X-Pulse lasers. I could write articles on those... Gun Bear 19:08, 7 October 2008 (CDT)
